June is Almost Over

There's not much new information from Stampin' Up! to share with you today, but because June is almost over you have only 2 more days to take advantage of a couple of old promotions that expire at the end of June!

The first one is one I think everyone should take advantage of. It's the offer of 2 free stamp sets when you purchase the Starter Kit in June. Only 3 days left to do take advantage of this promotion! Buy the Starter Kit for only $135 and get $165 worth of any current products that you want, free shipping! PLUS choose ANY TWO stamp sets free, regardless of price! That could mean up to $130 more in value, depending on which ones you choose! With all the wonderful new products to choose from, I would recommend this for everyone. You don't need to sell to take advantage of this offer, but you will be able to take advantage of 4 months of 20% discounts, even if you don't! No brainer!

The second is going to be a little harder to make happen in the short time we have left, but is still possible:
If you place an order of  $400 or more at my On-Line Store you can get an extra $40 in free product. Unfortunately, I have no openings in my schedule to do a workshop for you before the end of June, but you could also get together with some friends and send me your orders and you could reap the rewards if they total $400 before tax and shipping.

So just keep those in mind today and tomorrow! In the meantime, here is another couple of informative tutorials from Stampin' Up! to keep you going:

Watercolour Jar of Love

Good morning and happy Monday! I'm excited to share with you a design that I completed over the weekend for my free monthly tutorial available to everyone on my newsletter list. I've been itching to get at the Jar of Love Bundle and now that I've done one, I'm absolutely astounded by the possibilities with this set! Anyway, it makes such a pretty summer bouquet and I love the sentiment that is also part of the stamp set.

There's so many things you could put in those mason jars (which come in three sizes, by the way): you could put flowers, leaves, water, fireflies and even fish! They can have a lid or a handle or be labeled or tied with twine! I'll figure out a way to even make a Christmas candle or something! And look at all the great sentiments! This is another must-have bundle!

Take another look at the card:

  • Don't you love how the water in the jar is shaded? It looks more three dimensional that way.
  • The flowers and leaves work so well together, and almost everything has a coordinating framelit so no fussy cutting!
  • I will show you how to create that watercolour background if you subscribe to my newsletter before June 30th!

I normally only send out one or two emails a month, one being the newsletter, and any other to let you know of big happenings with Stampin' Up! so you don't miss out on any deals! You are more than welcome to unsubscribe at any time and the option is open with every email you receive.

My tutorials are step-by-step photo tutorials complete with a list of supplies and measurements used. The next newsletter containing this tutorial will be out on June 30th. Don't miss this one!

Last Thursday, I posted a plan to move to only 3 blog posts a week for some important reasons. If you haven't already done so, may I request that you go to this post and read my thoughts on this.

My next post will be on Wednesday, June 29th. Thanks for stopping by!

Botanical Golden Anniversary

We have some dear friends who will be celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary soon! Fifty Years!! That is a major accomplishment! I can't believe I'm old enough to have friends who are celebrating their Golden Anniversary! When did that happen?

I wanted a special card to celebrate this momentous occasion so I turned to the Botanical Builders Framelits and the Large Numbers Framelits to help me out. It had to be in white and gold because the 50th is Golden and weddings are white and I wanted to really highlight the number 50 somehow.

  • The card base is the Whisper White Thick cardstock, which provides a sturdier base that will hold up to all the embellishments on this card.
  • The heart and the number 50 are die cut several times each in Whisper White and once each in Gold Foil Sheet. The layers are glued together with the Gold Foil being the last layer on top. This gives them a thickness that gives them more prominence on the page. The Sweetheart Punch was used for the heart layers.,
  • I used the Botanical Builder Framelits to die cut the flowers and the leaves. This set creates the most beautiful floral display of any that we've had so far. If you want an elegant card look, this is the framelit set to get. But, you can also get a fun, tropical look as well, depending on the colours you use, so I totally recommend this as a *Have-to-Have* product. You won't be sorry.
  • The elegant look is continued with the Gold 5/8" Satin Ribbon, just a simple length of it tucked over the edges of the Whisper White front panel.
Enjoy your weekend! I will be spending it with this little guy to help him celebrate his fourth birthday!

I've Got to Get Out More!

My husband said it well the other day. We were going for a rare drive into town when I remarked on some building and road changes that I hadn't seen before. He said, "Those aren't that new, you know. You need to get out more!"

He was right. I spend far too much time holed up in my Craft Cave and on my computer. I know that some of you can relate. I'm not very good at regulating my work time, I'm afraid. Part of the problem is that I'm trying to maintain a 5 posts a week blog schedule, on top of other social media AND preparing for all the classes I have each month. Add to that packaging and delivering orders and helping customers, and keeping up with my downline, and I don't have time for extras like house cleaning and sleep and the E word (exercise)!

I've been experiencing several health issues lately that I fear are related to this sedentary life style I'm leading and it's time to make some changes. Starting now, I am planning to cut back my blog posts to 3 a week. Two will contain card and other stamping ideas and one will feature the latest Stampin' Up! information. You can look for these posts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

I'm hoping you won't be too disappointed, but a healthier me means that I can serve you better and provide more services such as Product Shares, Product based classes and the occasional mini-retreat.

I do love blogging, even though I sometimes feel like I'm talking to the air, and I know I will miss posting more often, but I'm also looking forward to having a little more time to spend with my hubby and friends. After all, when you get to be in your sixties, like I am, you realize how precious the time you have left is. I don't want to spend it all in my basement.

I hope you understand and will continue to follow my blog. I will commit to making those three posts a week the best they can be. Thanks for giving me grace in this! Hugs to all!

Kinda Eclectic Celebration

Today I want to congratulate one of my favourite challenge sites, The Paper Players, who are celebrating their 300th challenge this week. That is quite an accomplishment! It takes perseverance and dedication to keep a challenge going that long! It's not as easy as it may seem. Naturally the theme of their challenge this week is Celebrate!

When I thought of a celebration, the first thing that came to mind was fireworks! I guess I'm thinking about Canada Day and the Fourth of July for my American friends, too! What is a great celebration without great fireworks, I ask you?

But then, I had to figure out how to make them with the stamps I have, none of which are fireworks stamps. I had an ah-ha! moment when I remembered my Kinda Eclectic stamp set, which has a great stylized sun image! Perfect!  Here's where I went with that:

  • I stamped the sun image from Kinda Eclectic in Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight. After stamping each colour, I very quickly added some Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set it, before going on to the next colour. It's important to act quickly with the embossing powder because you want to add it before the ink dries, and our Classic Stampin' Pad ink dries much faster than Versamark
  • Once all the fireworks were stamped, I added the Celebrate sentiment from Celebrate Today, also in Melon Mambo with Clear Embossin' Powder added quickly and heat set with the Heat Tool.
  • I then sponged Night of Navy Ink all over that panel, and, as you can see, the clear embossing resists the ink and lets the images shine through. It represents the darkness of night, when fireworks can be seen the best. It took many applications of Night of Navy ink to get it as dark and consistent as I wanted. After, I used a paper towel and rubbed the navy ink off the embossed images completely.
  • I LOVE the new Enamel Shapes in all the colour families. They are so effective here as bright points of light in the fireworks! I like the way they reflect light and bring your images alive!
Go on over to The Paper Players and help them celebrate this week!
