Perhaps in reaction to yesterday's overly busy card, I opted for Clean and Simple today for a Father's Day Card for As You See It Challenges. The theme is "DAD", and, as you will see, the inspiration photo is all browns and tools and wood. I went in the opposite direction, using blues and geese and lots of white space with the Wetlands stamp set. But my card certainly works with the theme, and as a Design Team member, gives an alternate way to go for the participants in the challenge.
I tried out a new colour palette with this design, using the new Dapper Denim, Pool Party and Whisper White.
Here's a closer look at my project:
- I looked all through my obvious masculine sets for ideas and nothing appealed this time, so I got out the Wetlands stamp set, which makes for an uncomplicated image and, paired with the striped Pool Party paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, looks very masculine.
- I'm really loving the new Dapper Denim In Colour. It pairs so well with the majority of blues that we have, due to the slightly blue-green tone in it. Here it pairs up perfectly with Pool Party.
- I left lots of white space on the image panel. Believe me, I found that hard to do! I tried some linen thread, some silver buttons, some ruched ribbon, but nothing looked as good as ... nothing, so I let it be!
- The sentiment is from Guy Greetings stamp set and is stamped in Dapper Denim.
I'm planning an aesthetic change for my blog's appearance, with a clean, new banner and layout. I'm hoping to work on that over the weekend, so you'll get to see the results Monday morning, with any luck. I will be sporting a new logo and hopefully, you'll be able to make the change to recognize me and my blog posts!
Have a great weekend!
