Christmas Rose for Sympathy

Starting tomorrow, you will be able to buy the products in the limited time promotion, Christmastime is Here! Although it's primarily a Christmas medley of products, I wanted to show you that it's versatile enough to use for other occasions as well. I had need of a Sympathy Card and this is a great image to use on a sympathy card around this time of year. I just used colours other than Christmas colours and I got a whole new look for this stamp set.

  • Even though this suite is based on gold, I used silver to emboss the large image from the cling stamp in the second part of the stamp set. With the colours I was using for the rest of the card, silver was a better choice.
  • I used Stampin' Blends markers to colour in the image: Petal Pink Combo for the roses, Soft Sea Foam Combo for the leaves, Soft Suede Combo for the pinecones and Crumb Cake Combo for the berries.
  • I used Silver Foil Sheets covered with the now retired, but hoarded by me, Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets on the back, for the die cut lattices behind the images. It makes it so easy to stick them on. You just need to peel and stick!. I used the largest Stitched Shape Oval twice to created the backing behind the die cut image of the roses.
  • The sentiment is the Sympathy one from Flourishing Phrases, with a coordinating one in the center of the card.
  • The finishing touch is some pearls coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends Marker.

Country Home for The Paper Players

I'm always excited when I get a chance to play along with my favourite challenge blog, The Paper Players, and this week they have a sketch challenge going on, created by Anne Schach:

I wanted to do some watercolouring this past afternoon, so I dug out a favourite fall stamp set that I haven't played with for a long time and had an enjoyable hour of creating and watercolouring. Here is what transpired:

  • I wanted to use warm, fall colours, but I didn't want to watercolour the milk can with Cajun Craze or an orange, so I decided to try out Terracotta Tile. I was surprised at how pink or red it was, but I do like the warmth it generates.
  • I teamed up the Terracotta Tile with Crumb Cake, Champagne Foil, and Cajun Craze. The jury is still out on the combination.
  • I watercoloured a background using a combo of Grapefruit Grove, Crumb Cake and Champagne Glimmer Paint on Shimmery White cardstock. I fussy cut the milk can and the floral arrangement after they had been painted and added them to the background, popping up the milk can on dimensionals.
  • The back ground is Champagne Foil, embossed with the Tin Tile 3D Embossing Folder. The horizontal strip of paper is from the Come to Gather DSP. The small element in the corner is from the same stamp set, fussy cut and embellished with a twine bow.
  • The sentiment is likewise from the Country Home stamp set.
