Sun Prints Suite for As You See It Challenge #273

sun prints suite for aysi challenge #273 1

Oh, yeah! Time for my favourite of all challenges, a colour challenge from As You See It! I'm so colour driven in my creating that I look forward to these as they roll around every seven weeks! What's exciting about this one is that when Team Member LeAnne designed this challenge back at the end of December, she had no idea that these colours would be used so extensively in up coming catalogues!

challenge #273
As soon as I saw them, I thought of the *Sun Prints Suite, since two of the colours are featured in the *Sun Prints Designer Series Paper, Night of Navy and Pacific Point. It was easy to add the Balmy Blue using layers and by stamping images from the *Nature's Prints Cling Stamp Set. Here's how my fun fold design ended up:

*New products from the 2022/23 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, available starting May 3, 2022.

  • I cut a regular card base from Pacific Point card stock at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored it at 4 1/4". Then I cut off some of the front panel, cutting at 3" from the folded edge.
  • I added a layer of Balmy Blue cardstock to both the inside and the outside. The inside measurement was 4" x 5 1/4" and the outside measurement was 2 3/4" x 5 1/4".
  • I added two different patterns from the *Sun Prints DSP to the outside and inside. The measurement for the outside piece was 2 1/2" x 5" and the inside piece was 3 3/4" x 5".
  • Inside I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 2 1/2" x 4 3/4". It will be mounted under the flap so it can't be seen from the outside and used to write the greetings on.
  • I stamped the gingko leaves in balmy blue and the fern in Pacific Point and die cut both with coordinating dies from the *Natural Prints Dies. The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy and the splatter image was added in stamped off Balmy Blue and die cut with a die from the Tasteful Labels dies (which are retiring and I'm devastated!)
  • I blended some Balmy Blue and Pacific Point ink on a small section of Basic White cardstock and added the splatter image in a couple of places in Pacific Point ink. Then I die cut a couple of the leafy sprigs from the *Natural Prints Dies from that paper.
  • All the leafy die cuts were arranged on the front panel and secured with glue dots. The sentiment was added using dimensionals and a double bow of white baker's twine added to the bottom.

*New products from the 2022/23 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, available starting May 3, 2022.

April New at SU Blog Hop: Love & Laughter Forever After

new at su blog hop banner 1

Welcome to our April NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with creative paper crafting ideas to share with you. Today we are using continuing products from current 2021/2022 Annual Catalogue to make Wedding/Anniversary, Graduation, Mother's or Father's Day cards. I decided to use an old favourite, Forever Fern, to make a beautiful white on white with gold highlights wedding card.

I've always loved the Forever Fern bundle but I've always used it to make green or teal foliage type cards. This time I imagined it as a wedding card with white and gold foliage with sprigs of the Layering Designs vellum tucked in as well. You'll be able to see more detail in this photo:

Nature's Prints for the 2022/23 Annual Catalogue Debut

nature's prints for the annual catalogue debut

My 20222/23 Annual Catalogue Pre0rder arrived last Friday and this is my debut design! It's using products from the Sun Prints Suite*, and specifically the Nature's Prints Bundle*, the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper* and the Fern 3D Embossing Folder*! I have to admit being heavily influenced by some colours and techniques used by Gail Ellis of Blue Rose Paper Treasures from her beautiful designs using the same suite, but who wouldn't be!

*New products from the 2022/23 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, available starting May 3, 2022.

I was drawn to this suite because when our children were little we would often buy this kind of cyanotype paper and spend lots of fun summer days creating nature prints with all kinds of plants and fungi. The kids loved it! Basically you placed a leaf or flower or mushroom on the cyanotype paper and left it in the sun and it would create a print of the object similar to what you see on this DSP.

  • I built my card on a Night of Navy card base and added a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Gray Granite cardstock embossed with the Fern 3D Embossing Folder*.
  • On a piece of Basic White, I heat embossed the foliage images from the Nature's Prints stamp set* in white embossing powder, then I used Pool Party ink to ink blend with the Blender Brush to reveal these images. I used a stitched rectangle die to die cut this layer and mounted it on the Gray Granite layer close to the right side as shown.
  • I added a 1 1/2" strip of the Sun Prints DSP* down the left side.
  • I stamped the 3 foliage images again in Petal Pink, Gray Granite and Pool Party, then die cut them using the coordinating Natural Prints dies*.
  • I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set, in Starry Sky ink* and die cut it with a label from the Natural Prints dies*. I added the 3 foliage pieces behind the sentiment and popped the whole thing up with dimensionals on the card front.
  • With a couple of glue dots I added a bow made from Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon. I added some clear polished dots.

*New products from the 2022/23 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, available starting May 3, 2022.

last chance products

In the meantime, I haven't been keeping track of all the retiring products from the old 2021/22 Annual Catalogue and I was shocked at all the stamp sets that have sold out. Normally they are the last to go as SU keeps producing them up to a certain date. Apparently not this year. I have created a PDF form to share with you showing all the retiring products and anything marked in red is now out of stock and unavailable! Gone for Good! If there is anything else in that list that you want, my advice is to order it ASAP! Also, prices are going up for many basics such as paper and ink in the new catalogue so if you order now, you can save yourself some moolah! You can either order through my
Online Store or contact me!

Seas the Day for As You See It Challenge #272

seas the day for as you see it challenge #272 1

As You See It Challenges has a sketch challenge this week and it's really interesting. It's bands of paper of lessening thicknesses as you go up across the front of the card. Here's what the sketch looks like:

aysi #272

I'm trying to use all my new Jan/Jun Mini stamp sets that I've got before the end of June, so the next one on my list was Seas the Day and I decided to use the Waves of the Ocean Designer Series Paper before it expires May 2. I used two of the designs, a darker blue that incorporates Night of Navy and Pacific Point and a lighter blue that uses Coastal Cabana.

It was hard to figure out what widths I should cut the strips, but I finally settled on 1", 7/8", 3/4",5/8" and 1/2". I made them all 3 7/8" long while the DSP underneath was 4" x 5 1/4".

Here's a closer look:

seas the day for as you see it challenge #272 2

  • I stamped the seaweed image from the stamp set in Mint Macaron ink, and since there is no coordinating die I fussy cut it and mounted it on the card front.
  • I stamped the other sea creatures in Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo, and Calypso Coral. All these had coordinating dies from the Sea Dies collection, so were die cut and mounted, some with glue dots and others popped up on dimensionals.
  • The sentiment is from Inspired Thoughts because I felt the font suited the images. I die cut it using the Tailored Tags dies.
