Elegant Pine Snowflakes for Challenge #362 - Bits and Pieces

Where did the time go? The speed challenge is done and it's time for the next sketch challenge at As You See It Challenges. This one was designed by my team mate Jan C. and she's given us a bit more than usual to chew on. It reminds me of the good old days of Mojo Monday sketches, which were often fairly full of shapes and elements! Simple stampers we were not back then! When I look at the results now though, I much prefer the uncluttered look! Anyway, take a look at the sketch we have to work with for this challenge!

I just completed a fundraising crop this weekend and one of the samples I made for a Make & Take used the Elegant Pine Snowflakes DSP along with the Delicate Pines stamp set for the sentiment. I thought I could come up with something similar for this sketch.

• There are so many beautiful greens in the Elegant Pine Snowflakes DSP. One is Old Olive and I used that for the card base.
• I embossed a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White cardstock with the retired Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder and mounted it on the card base.
• I chose two different designs from the DSP patterns and cut the background panels from those. I added those to the card front.
• I added a 3" square piece of Basic White cardstock to the card front as shown.
• Using the Elegant Pine Snowflakes DSP in the Garden Green and white design, I die cut 3 different snowflakes, with the Delicate Pines Dies and mounted them on the card front, centering them on the 3" square, as shown.
• I stamped the sentiment from the Delicate Pines stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink and cut the strip and mounted it with dimensionals on the card front.
• I added the Low Profile Sparkle Dots to finish off.

Autumn Toile for As You See It Challenge #361 - An Accelerated Apple a Day

When I originally saw the theme that Heather H. picked for our Speed Stamping Challenge this week, I thought it was brilliant! Simple but effective. But then I went searching for products with apples on them! Zilch! No apple dies, no apple papers, not even an apple pie. I almost missed it entirely, because it was so small, but when I was looking at the retired bundle, More Than Autumn, I found a tiny apple stamp and a coordinating die! Not big enough to be the focal point of a card by itself, mind you! I would have to add it to something. Check out the Challenge Banner:

The title of this challenge, by the way, is An Accelerated Apple a Day! And for Speed Challenges, you have to make your card in 10 minutes or less.

You are allowed to plan it all out ahead of time, you can assemble all of your supplies and mount your stamps, but as soon as you cut paper or ink up a stamp, you must start the timer.

I decided to use the apple die to forgo colouring, but I needed a tree to put the apples on, so I got out the Autumn Toile DSP and fussy cut one. Now fussy cutting is not normally something you want to do when you are doing a speed challenge, but I had no other choice. To combat that, I used a pre-embossed panel  of Very Vanilla that I found in my stash as a background.

•  I started with a card base of Early Espresso and added a layer of a striped pattern of the Autumn Toile DSP.
• On top of that I added the Very Vanilla Embossed layer that I found in my stash. I'm not sure I even remember which EF I used for that pattern.
• I fussy cut the tree from another pattern of Autumn Toile DSP and added it to the card front, then die cut 5 apples from Real Red cardstock and glued them on the tree. I know the scale of the apples isn't right but it was my only choice!
• I also die cut the word Apple from the More Than Autumn bundle and glued it on under the tree, and stamped the word Pie in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I fussy cut the word and glued it on under the word Apple.
• And that's all folks, for a total of 9 min and 24 sec.

Amber Autumn for As You See It Challenge #360 - Happy Harvest Theme

I came up with the theme challenge for As You See It Challenge #360 this week and I chose Happy Harvest as the theme! To be honest, we're probably pretty much at the end of harvest where I live, but enjoying the harvest decor, though I predict that soon the Christmas trees and lights will be out in full force after today, or at least after Nov. 11, when we celebrate Remembrance Day, our Canadian homage to our veterans.

I thought I would get one more use out of the Amber Autumn bundle and I found some DSP that pairs well with it: Timeless Plaid 6" x 6".

And here is a closer look at the card I made:

• I started with a Crumb Cake card base, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". I added a Very Vanilla layer of 5 1/4" x 4". On that I stamped a grass image from the Prairie Grass stamp set in Crushed Curry.
• On a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, I stamped the pumpkins image from Amber Autumn in Early Espresso ink. I coloured the image in using Stampin' Blends markers and die cut it using the Amber Autumn dies.
• I also die cut a couple of grass pieces from Old Olive cardstock using the Amber Autumn dies.
• I cut a piece of plaid DSP 1 3/4" x 4" and wrapped with some of the Irregular Weave Trim, then tied with a small piece for a faux knot. The plaid DSP was adhered to the Very Vanilla layer on the left side.
• Using Stampin' Dimensionals, the pumpkin image was mounted over the yellow grass image, as shown.
• Using glue dots, the green grass pieces were tucked behind the pumpkin image.
• The sentiment, from Amber Autumn was stamped on Very Vanilla with Early Espresso ink and die cut with an Unbounded Love die.
