Country Flowers for As You See It Challenge #333

country flowers for aysi #333 1

As a crafter driven largely by colour, I always look forward to As You See It's Colour Challenges, and this one is no exception. This triad of colours, chosen by my team mate, Deb, is pretty close together on the colour wheel, on the blue to green side and so could be rightfully called Almost Analogous. Here's the Challenge Banner:

I happen to love blue - green combinations, so this was right up my alley!  For an As You See It Colour Challenge, you must use all the given colours ONLY, plus one neutral which can include white, black, vanilla or Crumb Cake. White cardstock and black outline ink are freebies.

I took a long time deciding what stamp set would work the best with this colour palette, and finally decided on Country Flowers. Besides, I haven't used it yet, and it is high time I did.
Here's my Design Team sample:

  • On a card base of Basic White thick cardstock, I added a Deckled Rectangle die cut piece of Azure Afternoon cardstock. The die is the largest from the Deckled Rectangle set.
  • I also used the next largest Deckled Rectangle die to cut a layer of Basic White cardstock (regular thickness). I blended some Azure Afternoon ink lightly on it, then embossed it with the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder, and adhered it to the center of the Azure Afternoon layer.
  • On another piece of Basic White, I stamped the images of the stool, the plant bucket holder, the leafy green plant and the "sending love" sentiment.
  • Using the Stampin' Blends combos, I coloured the images as follows:
        stool: Crumb Cake
bucket: Azure Afternoon and light Granny Apple Green
leafy plant: Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green
  • I die cut those images and added them to the card front with either glue dots, or Stampin' Dimensionals!
  • I used the banner from Perennial Postage dies to die cut the sentiment, and a foliage die from Country Flowers dies, to back the sentiment, and adhered the sentiment using both dimensionals AND a Glue Dot.
  • I added 3 Rhinestones to embellish without adding a different colour.

Frozen Edges for New at SU

new at su banner

Welcome to our September NEW AT SU! Blog Hop! We love to share creative ideas from Stampin' Up! with you. Today we have projects featuring Better with Bundles, and these bundles are from our new Sept/Dec Mini Catalogue!

mini cover

Since I've just been playing with it, I decided to use the Frozen Edges bundle which can be found on page 50 of the Sept/Dec Mini Catalogue. Take a look at what I came up with:

For the card:
  • I started with a cardstock base in Pool Party, measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".
  • I cut a piece of Basic White, 5 1/4" x 4", and stamped it with the sentiment from Frozen Edges in VersaMark ink and Pool Party ink, and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.
  • Using the Silver Foil Sheets, I die cut the icicle edge for the top and the snowflake edge for the bottom using the edge dies from the Frozen Edges die set. I also die cut 3 snowflakes for the middle of the card front.
  • The icicle edge was added to the top edge of the Basic White layer using Stampin' Dimensionals. The snowflake edge was added using Liquid Glue.
  • The snowflakes were added in between using glue dots.
For the Gift Box:

I made the little gift box from Soft Seafoam cardstock into a 2" cube. I added Silver Foil icicles around the top (it takes 2 of the die cuts to cover the length, with both sides overlapping). I die cut 7 assorted snow flakes for the top and sides and adhered them with glue dots. The icicles are adhered with liquid glue. Rhinestones embellish the centers of the snowflakes.

I hope you enjoyed this project made with the Frozen Edges bundle from the Sept/Dec Mini Catalogue. Please take a moment to comment at the bottom of this post and let me know how you liked my project or ask me a question about the technique used.
