Snowflake Wishes for As You See It Challenges

snowflake wishes for as you see it challenges

Happy Friday! It's the end of another crazy week in the impossible year of 2020! In our neck of the woods, the woods are on fire! Just what we needed right? It gets so hot and dry here in the summer that it's just a matter of time. This year, so far, the fire is south east of us but close to people we know and love and it's so hard on them, especially in a pandemic to be forced to uproot and evacuate to somewhere that they don't feel safe. And then there's the first responders, who have to work in the dangerous conditions once again. Looking forward to colder weather and snowflakes to cool things down!

And there's a Fill In the Blank Challenge at As You See It Challenges this week. Here's the Challenge Banner:

as you see it challenge #233

This was a hard one for me. I think my favourite colour duo changes with the season. In spring and summer, I think Petal Pink and either Gray Granite or Sahara Sand would be my favourite duo. In the autumn, I'd probably go for Copper and either Cajun Craze or Crumb Cake. But I wanted to try out a new bundle I just got called the Snowflake Wishes Bundle and because it's winter, my favourite colour duo would have to be Coastal Cabana and Pool Party (with a neutral neutral like Sahara Sand or White). As I played with all the new dies I got an odd one that cut out a negative space. I decided to make a little shaker panel from that, since I didn't use a full piece of Coastal Cabana, and I wanted to used the Snowflake Splendour Designer Series Paper behind it as well. Anyway, this is what happened:

  • Basically, I just played around with the So Many Snowflakes dies, made myself a shaker panel for the front of the card and added a lot of snowflakes and embellishments!
  • The sentiment is from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set, which I stamped on an edge and fussy cut out.

Stampin' Up! Cinema for the Aug/Dec Mini Catalogue!

It's time for a trip to Stampin' Up! Cinema again! We haven't seen much of what some of the new products can do since the new Aug/Dec Mini Catalogue came out and today seemed like a good day to treat you to that! Have you got your popcorn and your Milk Duds or your Twizzlers ready to go:

First we're going to hear from my favourite Home Office guy, George, introducing the Poinsettia Place Suite:

They are really short and sweet these days aren't they? Well, that Poinsettia Place Suite is really sweet as well:

Right?

Now this is one suite that I didn't get - Heart Warming Hugs! But Holly makes a compelling case for this Suite!

That does look heart-warming, actually, all-over warming! Now our last video today is showing us the joys of the Snowflake Splendour Suite:

Although I just got the stamp set and dies and haven't had a chance to use them yet, I did use the DSP and the Glimmer Paper on this project.

That's all the videos Stampin' Up! has for this catalogue! I guess they're leaving it up to the demos. I know that I have to get moving to make some more samples for you before my Catalogue Launch September 5th! I hope you're going to attend that online. You can register for that HERE. There's Games, Great Prizes, Samples to look at, Shopping my Retired Products, Make & Takes, Safe Snacks and just a chance to hang out with others who enjoy stamping and papercrafting over Zoom! It's going to be a lot of Fun!! Did I mention that it was
FREE!

Hope to see you there!

Colour Blocked Birthday Card with Gilded Autumn DSP

colour blocked birthday card with gilded autumn dsp

Today I wanted to show you the last sample for my September Online Technique Class using the Gilded Autumn Suite products. This one is a little more simple, but fun, using a bit of a colour block technique with the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper and some embossed cardstock along with the coordinating Ribbon Pack for the Suite.

Here's a closer look:

  • The card is built on the Very Vanilla Thick cardstock with a 3 3/4" x 5" panel of Crumb Cake as it's centre focus. On that center are a square and a rectangle of the Gilded Autumn DSP breaking up the top row, while the bottom row consists of a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock embossed with the Tasteful Texture 3D Embossing Folder and holding the Mint Macaron Basket Weave ribbon in Mint Macaron and the Copper Metallic Grosgrain ribbon down its middle.
  • The sentiment came from the Here's a Card stamp set, but could be any small Happy Birthday Sentiment. It's stamped in Early Espresso ink.
  • The Stitched Rectangles dies was used to die cut the sentiment and the Stitched Nested Labels Dies die cut a backing for the label from another pattern from the Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP.
  • Some die cut grasses add the finishing touch.
If you would like to have the package for this Online Technique Class, and you live anywhere in Canada, click HERE for more information and order information. You should do this by Sept. 4 in order to have your supplies by the class date of Sept. 15th.

Extended Z Fold Card with the Gilded Autumn Suite

extended z fold with gilded autumn suite

As I continue to design for my September Online Technique Class, I have to say that I am totally in love with this Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper. The colours and designs along with the metallic foiling are just exquisite and bring fall to life so well.

Here is the palette we're talking about:

I also wanted a technique to work with and teach the class, so I picked an extended Z Fold card, which uses a heavy weight of DSP to lengthen the folds in a regular Z Fold card to give you something with more space, but which still fits in a regular sized envelope for a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card. I watched Meg Loven's great tutorial on this fancy fold and used the basic construction, then went my own way. Thanks, Meg!

For this card, I also made use of the Brushed Metallic cardstock that is part of the same Gilded Autumn Suite, the Plaid Tidings 6"X6" DSP found on page 57 of the Aug/Dec Mini Catalogue and both the Autumn Essentials and Gathered Leaves Dies.

Take a closer look at the card that will be the second sample for the class that will take place through Facebook Live/YouTube on Sept. 15th.
