Welcome back to another Friday blog entry for As You See It Challenges, and this week it's a colour challenge that I came up with. Here is the challenge banner:
It's a bit of an unusual combination which looks great in the photo but can be a bit challenging to work into a stamping project. I learned early on that if you have a palette of intense colours, using a lot of white tones them down quite nicely! It's definitely a sunflower palette though as you'll see if you head over to the As You See It Blog and look at all the Design Team samples!
Here's what I did with it:
- I started with a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock and added a panel of Bermuda Bay, 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
- Then I took a piece of ordinary Whisper White cardstock and embossed it using the Pinewoods Planks 3D Embossing Folder and my new Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (which works like an absolute dream, by the way!).
- On plain Whisper White cardstock I stamped the milk can from the Country Home stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and added bits of colour from the Light Cajun Craze and Light Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends markers from their respective Combos. I wanted the milk can to look slightly rusty white.
- I then stamped one "floral arrangement" from Country Home stamp set (the one with the bulrushes) and one from the Jar of Flowers stamp set (the one with the sunflowers), both using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured the two bouquets in (at least the parts I wanted to use) using the Cajun Craze Combo, the Bermuda Bay Combo and the Mango Melody Combo (which I substituted for Crushed Curry, since there isn't a Blends Combo in that colour). I then fussy cut the parts I wanted of the two arrangements and built them up on the bulrush base image using glue dots and some Dimensionals. Once added to the milk can, this image can be added to the card front using Dimensionals, leaving room for the sentiment below.
- Save room for the sentiment from the Autumn Greetings stamp set stamped in Cajun Craze on a strip of Whisper White cardstock, which is then adhered to the card front below the image.
- The final touch are some leftover retired Bermuda Bay rhinestones from the Holiday collection.
Pop on over to the Challenge Blog to see what the other DT members did with these colours.

This is absolutely stunning Heather and you're right, the white space gives those deep colours room to breathe! I love the image and the wood effect embossing and isn't the font on the sentiment gorgeous?!
