Nature Walk DSP with Painted Trees 3D EF for As You See It Challenge #385

Time once again for a Speed Challenge at As You See It Challenges and I do try to stay positive, because these do have a many advantages.....and I'm sure I'll come up with some any time now....! Just kidding! They are fun, and once you have the knack, not that hard to do. I think you've just got to try and forget that there is a timer going, because as soon as you turn on a timer, my normally calm temperament completely flips out, and I turn into a first time stamper with all left thumbs! At least, that's what it feels like.

However, experience has taught me several time-saving tricks, which can save my sanity, so I will try and pass on the ones I used here.

First, let's check out the Challenge Banner:

Then let's take a closer look at my Design Team sample:

  • I started with a card base of Old Olive, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".
  • I added a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of  Nature Walk DSP all in shades of greens and blue greens, on the card front. DSP is a lifesaver in Speed Challenges!
  • Next, I took a piece of Peaceful Pine 2-sided Cardstock from the Heirloom Boutique collection, cut it to 3 1/2" x 4 3/4", and ran it through the Stampin' Cut 'n Emboss Machine in the Painted Trees 3D Embossing Folder. I made sure that the darker Peaceful Pine colour was embossed rather than debossed, then I sanded the images on the darker side, resulting in the white core of the paper being exposed. Normally, this is all I would do with it, but....
  • This didn't give me the look that I was hoping for, so I took a blending brush and some Granny Apple Green and blended some ink over the exposed white areas to make them a light green.
  • To add the illusion of a light skiff of snow, I used a white gel pen to  trace the outlines of the outside and some inside branches, just to even it out. This was glued to the card front.
  • The sentiment, from Noel Tidings, was stamped in Peaceful Pine ink,  on Basic White and die cut with a banner die from the Noel Tidings Dies.
  • It was added to the card front as shown with dimensionals.
  • I still had a bit of time left, so added some Array of Dots.
The timer stopped with 34 sec. left! Cutting it close. But still under 10 min.
