Feels Like Frost with Poinsettia Petals

I finally got the Poinsettia Petals Bundle that's been on my wish list since I saw the catalogue. It consists of the Poinsettia Petals Photopolymer stamp set and the Poinsettia Dies. I love non-traditional Christmas colours and especially blues and silvers, so I decided to go with embossing my poinsettia in Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder on Seaside Spray and the leaves in Silver on Night of Navy cardstock. Looking for some Designer Series Paper that would go with this palette, I finally remembered the Feels Like Frost 6 x 6 DSP that was carried over from last year and realized it would be perfect.

  • The flower itself consists of three layers of either stamped and die cut or die cut and dry embossed petals. In this case, I stamped with Versamark and sprinkled with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder, then heat set them using a heat tool, then die cut them.
  • Before adhering each layer to the next, I used my bone folder to shape the petals to give them some definition. I used one of the Beaded Pearl Embellishments to create the center for poinsettia and it looks spectacular with the Seaside Spray and Silver combination.
  • I heat embossed the leaves (2 sizes) and some fir branches on night of navy cardstock and die cut those, then tucked them under the poinsettia in appropriate spots.
  • I heat embossed some silver sprigs onto vellum and die cut them and some other unembossed sprigs to tuck into the flower and give it more layering.
  • The sentiment, from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set, was stamped in Night of Navy on a strip of Seaside Spray and added to the top left of the card front!

  1. This is such a beautiful card Heather. I love poinsettias too, and these blue tones are perfect for a non traditional look.
