Christmastime is Here for the November Newsletter Tutorial

It's November 1st! A remarkable day for 2 reasons: first, it's November already! And second, it's the day when you, as customers, can finally purchase and new Paper Trimmer and the new Christmastime is Here Suite.

And for my reviews on both you're going to want to see my free November Newsletter which will be coming out in the next few days. In fact, my free photo tutorial will feature the Christmastime is Here Suite. Each month, when I send out my free monthly newsletter, I try to include a photo tutorial for my readers featuring Stampin' Up! products. The tutorial included step-by-step instructions illustrated by photos and has a list of all products used and measurements. And, if you are from Canada, and don't have a regular SU Demonstrator, I would love to have you shop with me for any of those products that you need.

Here's a close up of the card featured in the tutorial this month:

  • The Designer Series Paper in the background is the Christmastime is Here Specialty DSP which is gold foiled on one side and patterned on the other.
  • The main image is also die cut with the Roses Dies which just happen to coordinate not only with the Christmas Rose stamp set, but also with some of the images on the DSP.
  • Look at that luscious gold ribbon on the front! I'll teach you how to tie a double finger bow.
  • The sentiment has a great font and the label die is also from the set.
  • Don't you love the Gold Glitter Enamel Dots that are part of it as well?
  • The Christmas Rose stamp set has a Cling stamp set that gives you an outline that you can colour in using many different methods, and it also has a set of photopolymer 2 step stamping pieces that you can use to fill in the outline, especially using a Stamparatus, although that's not strictly necessary.

Christmas Rose for Sympathy

Starting tomorrow, you will be able to buy the products in the limited time promotion, Christmastime is Here! Although it's primarily a Christmas medley of products, I wanted to show you that it's versatile enough to use for other occasions as well. I had need of a Sympathy Card and this is a great image to use on a sympathy card around this time of year. I just used colours other than Christmas colours and I got a whole new look for this stamp set.

  • Even though this suite is based on gold, I used silver to emboss the large image from the cling stamp in the second part of the stamp set. With the colours I was using for the rest of the card, silver was a better choice.
  • I used Stampin' Blends markers to colour in the image: Petal Pink Combo for the roses, Soft Sea Foam Combo for the leaves, Soft Suede Combo for the pinecones and Crumb Cake Combo for the berries.
  • I used Silver Foil Sheets covered with the now retired, but hoarded by me, Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets on the back, for the die cut lattices behind the images. It makes it so easy to stick them on. You just need to peel and stick!. I used the largest Stitched Shape Oval twice to created the backing behind the die cut image of the roses.
  • The sentiment is the Sympathy one from Flourishing Phrases, with a coordinating one in the center of the card.
  • The finishing touch is some pearls coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends Marker.

You will be able to order these products starting tomorrow, but remember it is limited to "While Supplies Last", so don't wait too long! Christmas Rose for Thanksgiving?!!

Happy actual Thanksgiving Day if you are a Canadian! I don't know when you usually have your Thanksgiving meal. I've usually had mine on the Sunday, but this year, because it's just Ken and I, and we don't have to travel anywhere, we're having our turkey dinner today! Yum!

But I wanted to share this beautiful promotion medley that I finally had a chance to play with this weekend. The whole medley is called *Christmastime is Here, but the stamp set is called *Christmas Rose. What a beautiful set it is! I played mostly with Part 2 of the set which consists of one cling stamp with all the detail you see below. I stamped it in Versamark, added Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on Watercolour paper and heat set it with the Heat Tool. Then I set out to watercolour the image. Here's how it turnied out:

*Part of the Christmastime is Here Medley Promotion, not available to customers until Nov. 1. To get it sooner, join my team and order it in your starter kit!

  • If you have some time and you find watercolouring soothing, you're going to love this *Christmas Rose stamp. Yes, it's floral, but with the pine boughs, holly berries, and pine cones, you definitely get a holiday feel to it.
  • I used Cherry Cobbler ink on the large rose and the berries, Poppy Parade on the smaller one (who knew they would go together so well?), Mossy Meadow on the leaves and Early Espresso on the rose leaves. When you watercolour with ink, you get a real gradient of colour depending on how much water you use with the ink. You can also dry the watercolouring and add a new layer to get a darker shade.
  • Aqua Painters are amazing tools. They carry the water in their wells inside them and are so easy to clean and use with a second colour. Simply swipe on scrap paper until you get a clean brush stroke with no colour.
  • The sentiment is from the photopolymer stamp set that is part 1 of the set. I embossed it with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on regular Whisper White cardstock and then die cut it with one of the label dies in the coordinating die set, called *Roses Dies.
  • Other products from the medley I used were the *Christmastime is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper in the background, the *Gold Shimmer Ribbon and the *Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.
  • The card base is Mossy Meadow and the watercoloured panel was die cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies.
*Part of the Christmastime is Here Medley Promotion, not available to customers until Nov. 1. To get it sooner, join my team and order it in your starter kit!

This medley will be available for customers Nov. 1, but it will only be available while supplies last, so be sure to get your orders in promptly when it becomes available. Here are the details:

You can purchase the whole suite at once, or as a bundle of stamp set and dies, or buy pieces separately, which gives you lots of options!
