Adult Easter Cards - Quick and Easy

I don't mail out a lot of Easter cards, but I do send our daughters and their families little Easter gifts and I like to make cards to go along with them. This year two of the three families were with us for Easter and these are the cards we made the adults. Check back here on Friday for the cards I made for the grandkids.

These two samples were made using Whisper White Notecards & Envelopes as the card base, which makes them a little easier to complete, since the notecard size is 3 1/2" x 5".  The background Designer series paper is from the now retired Subtles Designer Series Paper Stacks, using the stripe pattern in Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz.

Here's a close up look at them:

  • The Wisteria Wonder card on the left uses 3 stamp sets: Birthday Blossoms for the flowers, You're Inspiring for the sentiment and Hold on to Hope for the cross.
  • The Pansy Punch is used to punch out the large blossom shape.
  • The card on the right just uses the You're Inspiring stamp set for all the images and sentiments. They are stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that they can be coloured in with the Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers - bloth shades of Daffodil Delight and both shades of Old Olive, and the light shade of Crumb Cake. Due to long lead times with the manufacturer of Stampin' Blends and unprecedented demand for them, Stampin' Up! has had to remove them from the available to order list until about the end of May, in order to catch up on backorders and to stock up enough to meet demand, so you'll have to be patient for awhile if you don't have yours yet.
  • Both cards were finished off with Glitter Enamel Dots.

Friday is the last day to get me your orders if you want to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration, and Saturday is the last day to submit your own orders through my On-Line Store.

Please get your orders to me by 2 pm Friday if you want me to submit them. If you are shopping online, you have until 11 pm on Saturday to get them in, but I caution you not to wait until the last moment! Please don't be like this sad customer of mine last SAB time:

Remember, you need to have earned a Sale-A-Bration reward during this Sale-A-Bration period to be eligible to receive an invitation to my exclusive "invitation only" party, Celebrate Sale-A-Bration, in April! It's going to be a blast and you could win door prizes of other Sale-A-Bration rewards, so make sure you're on that list!

Gift of Love Thank You Notecards

It's a constant need in my business - Thank You cards for my customers. I keep a good supply of Note Cards and Envelopes around, and I make Thank You cards twenty at a time. It's always fun to come up with new variations on the theme and to decide which colours to use. This time I opened up the Gift of Love Hostess stamp set and decided to make me some irises!

Hostess Stamp sets are only available to those who have earned Stampin' Rewards. They are priced lower so that your Stampin' Rewards will get you more. There are three ways to make that happen. You could place an order yourself for $200 or more. You could host a Stampin' Party at your house or mine where you invite your friends and I bring all the supplies for everyone to make three very cute projects, then when your guests place orders, you get the Stampin' Rewards for the total from the event! Finally, you could join my Stamp Club and for a commitment of a minimum $20 a month for 12 months, you would have one of those months when you were designated the Hostess and could claim the Stampin' Rewards for the total club offer. You can read more about Stamp Club here.

  • Gift of Love is a 3 step stamping set. First you stamp the image outline. I used Memento Tuxedo Black for that, as it is waterproof and will easily clean off the photopolymer stamp. The second step is to use a solid stamp to fill in the colour for the iris blossoms. Finally, use a green ink to add colour to the stems and leaves.
  • The Thank You sentiment is from Gift of Love as well. I love the script of it. I used a script background paper from Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, in the same colours that I stamped the flowers with.
  • The Layering Ovals Framelits were use to die cut the image panels. These are great because if you wanted to layer them, the framelits are designed to create narrower margins between the two ovals. That's why they cannot stack into one or two piles, because they are too close in size to nest inside each other.
Do you have any Thank You cards to make? Why not place a large order, or host a workshop party making you eligible to get this versatile set!

Peekaboo Paper Card with Watercolour Wings

I made a quick change of plans last week. I had my sample all ready for the Mom & Me class I did on Sunday afternoon, then decided I needed a new card for the moms to make on their own while I worked with their kids. Thanks to Pinterest and Lyssa Zwolanek, I found a design that I pretty shamelessly CASed, adding a few of my own touches with colours and dimensions.

It is a peekaboo paper design, one that I've seen a lot lately on Pinterest and everywhere else on the internet. Basically, you fold back the flaps on the front panel of your card to reveal a 'hidden' sentiment!

Here's the close-up:

  • Watercolour Wings is the awesome stamp set featured here with the 4 step butterfly and the sentiment. That watercolour butterfly image is so spectacular and so easy to do with photopolymer stamps. You can see right through them to line up your images. And the icing on the cake is the Bold Butterfly Framelits that you can use to die cut the final image. One word of advice that I have is to save stamping the butterfly's body until you've die cut the image, so you can tell where to position it. I didn't do that and you can see that the body is a little out of alignment.
  • The top layer of Designer Series Paper, from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, is slit in the middle of the long side (2 1/2" from the top) in 2" from the edge. Your Stampin' Trimmer, with the ruler on the blade guide makes that easy to do. I also scored the fold lines by lining up the end of the slit and the corners of the card along the blade guide and using the scoring blade gently. I folded the paper back, but I didn't crease it. Using a glue dot on the corner, I adhered each side so that it created that rounded look.
  • Before adhering the Whisper White and the Designer Series Paper, I just positioned the latter over the former and stamped the sentiment in the right place. That way, if the stamping was faulty, I could still flip the Whisper White and try again without needing to start again.
  • Love that Whisper White Thick Baker's Twine! It makes a substantial bow without looking too heavy.
