A Little Love for Retiring Jar of Love

One stamp set I've had for about three years, but just hasn't had enough love over those years, is Jar of Love, not because I didn't love it, but because there are just not enough hours in the day and days in the year for all the sets I have loved! But I won't let it retire without one more chance to showcase how versatile and amazing it is! You can do so many crazy things with it! Just Google it and you'll see!

But since it's newsletter time again, I thought I would use this as my free photo tutorial for my newsletter subscribers this month.  Here is a closer look at what you will be able to create with this tutorial:

• The main feature is a clear mason jar stamped on and die cut from a window sheet and matched exactly to a stamped image on some Shimmery White cardstock that has a watercoloured background.
• While the sides of the clear jar are adhered to the cardstock the top is left open so that you can stamp and die cut, using the Everyday Jars Dies, flowers, grass and foliage and tuck it into the jar through the opening in the top to create a bouquet. I actually felt like I was doing some flower arranging!
• The colour scheme is based on the Designer Series Paper that I used for the background panels, Twinkle, Twinkle, which turned out to be my favourite DSP in the Annual Catalogue this past year. I love the designs and colours, and the small images make such good backgrounds! Here I used Gray Granite, Night of Navy, Pool Party, Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam.

Fancy Frost Fresh Fruit for The Paper Players

Woohoo! It's Friday! What a busy week it's been, and when I say busy, I mean busy in the Craft Cave creating! I was trying to get ahead a little and I don't know if I accomplished that, but over the last week I've designed quite a few cards...and this was the last of them. I wanted to enter The Paper Player's Challenge this week:

It was supposed to be a clean and simple card, which, of course, I did not quite achieve. But we were to also include fall taste treats such as apples and pumpkins on our card. What sprang to my mind was my mom so many years ago, all through the summer and into the early fall, busy in the kitchen canning everything she could get her hands on. And we looked forward to eating all that wonderful canned produce every winter. I'm sure it got us through a few lean years! She worked so hard on it. And I know that all her love went into every Mason jar of peaches, pears and cherries that she put up.

I wanted my card to reflect that love, and I'm so glad that we have the Jar of Love stamp set and Everyday Jars Framelits with which I could recreate the scene.

• This was the first time that I have used the Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper for the fall background. I sponged the embossed paper to get that warm effect.
• The Fresh Fruit Stamp set helped me to create the peach, apple and pear for the foreground. The sentiment is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set, but it was just the right sentiment for the feeling of love I wanted to convey.

July Paper Pumpkin Spoiler

I have been lucky enough to receive my July Paper Pumpkin kit although I haven't had the chance to play with it yet, but some of you may be expecting yours in the mail still, hence the "spoiler" in the title. Feel free to skip the video and scroll on down. You can always return once yours arrives. But this month, it's a real gem of a kit:


              


I'm looking forward to some down time next week to work on it. I think I'll be working on some alternatives though as I don't use treat containers very often.

Here's a little card I made with my Jar of Love stamp set for my daughter who is learning all about how to dye wool and other fibres with dyes made from lichens and fungi. She often lets the dyes "steep" (for want of the correct word) in mason jars, so these images are perfect! I had to go digital to get the custom sentiment for her, though! I love how the Everyday Jars Framelits die cuts almost all the images in the Jar of Love stamp set. I makes everything so much easier! Notice that the background is watercoloured with the same colours that are in the jars.

Watercolour Jar of Love

Good morning and happy Monday! I'm excited to share with you a design that I completed over the weekend for my free monthly tutorial available to everyone on my newsletter list. I've been itching to get at the Jar of Love Bundle and now that I've done one, I'm absolutely astounded by the possibilities with this set! Anyway, it makes such a pretty summer bouquet and I love the sentiment that is also part of the stamp set.

There's so many things you could put in those mason jars (which come in three sizes, by the way): you could put flowers, leaves, water, fireflies and even fish! They can have a lid or a handle or be labeled or tied with twine! I'll figure out a way to even make a Christmas candle or something! And look at all the great sentiments! This is another must-have bundle!

Take another look at the card:

• Don't you love how the water in the jar is shaded? It looks more three dimensional that way.
• The flowers and leaves work so well together, and almost everything has a coordinating framelit so no fussy cutting!
