Words & Wishes Dies for As You See It Challenge #377 - Recipe for Happy Yellow Flowers

words & wishes dies for aysi #377 1

Do you cook using a recipe or do you have the knack of just throwing things together knowing it will turn out great? For me, it depends on what I'm cooking, but most of the time, I like to follow a recipe. Card making is a little different, I usually know what's going to look good together, but sometimes it's just fun to follow a recipe! And today I followed one from As You See It Challenges, concocted by team mate, Joanne! Check out the Challenge Banner:

challenge #377

The five elements needed are a flower, a large bold sentiment, shades of yellow, a die cut and enamel dots embellishments, and it has to contain all five - but how is up to me! Here's how I did it:

  • I started with a card base of Crushed Curry, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". I added a layer of Lemon Lolly, 5 1/4" x 4", and a second layer of Basic White, 5" x 3 3/4", all centered on the top of the card front.
  • On another 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White, I used the masks from the retired Layers of Beauty Stamps, Masks and Die sets, to create the yellow roses using Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry inks for the roses, and Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green inks for the leaves.
  • I then die cut the finished roses and mounted it on the card front using dimensionals.
  • For the big, bold sentiment, I used the new Words & Wishes dies to die cut the sentiments in black and the shadows in Lemon Lolly.
  • I glued them together and adhered them as shown using glue and dimensionals.
  • I used the 2025 - 2027 In Colour Flat Pearls in Darling Duckling for the Enamel Dots.
