Rolling Waves for As You See It Challenge #370 - Popular Cardable Occasions

With this design, I'm killing two birds with one stone, so to speak. First, I'm creating my Design Team sample for As You See It Challenge #370, and second, I'm coming up with a Make & Take design for my upcoming One Day Craft Crop for the Cure on May 2nd. We only have 3 spots left in that event, by the way, so if you want to attend, let me know quickly.

The Challenge is a Fill In The Blank challenge, created by our team mate, Heather H., so first you fill in the blank, and then you make a card with the words you used in mind. Here's the Challenge Banner:

Other than Christmas, I mail out more Birthday cards than anything else, so I created a birthday card. Thank-you cards are a close third!

The set I used for my card is a bundle called Rolling Waves from the Online Exclusives that released in March.

Here's a closer look and some instructions:

  • I started with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" base of Basic White Thick cardstock, scored on the long side at 4 1/4" and folded.
  • I cut a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and a piece of Basic White cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", trimming it off, using the single line die from the Rolling Waves die set at an angle, starting about 1 1/2" up from the bottom on the lower right and extending across the Basic White piece to a spot about 3" up from the bottom left.
  • Using mostly Coastal Cabana ink, and a little Balmy Blue, stamp over that piece of Basic White using the water texture stamp from the Rolling Waves Stamp Set. Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment about 1 1/4" from the top on the right in Pretty Peacock ink.
  • I used Lost Lagoon and Vellum cardstock to die cut the other pieces and Basic White to die cut the top piece. These were glued down. I added Wink of Stella to the white foam and a little to the rest.d
  • On the sand, I used the sand texture stamp and Pecan Pie ink to add the sand to the Crumb Cake.
  • Using the Bubble Gum, and Pool Party colours of the Pastel Shimmer Specialty Paper, I die cut the conjoined strip of sea shells. I mixed the two colours as shown and added them to the card front.
Enjoy!
