I love it when I get to combine challenges and the two that I played today were perfect for each other. I had a theme challenge from The Paper Players to work on, "Let It Snow".
And I put it all together with the sketch challenge from Mojo Monday:
My first thought was to use the window die from the Hearth and Home Thinlits, but I felt that it was too small for the effect I wanted, so I made my own window using the Square Collection Framelit Dies on Silver Foil.
- I carefully placed the same Square Framelit four times to make the windows, then I glued on a piece of the snowflake design from the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.
- On a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, I embossed the fir tree from Lovely As A Tree in White Stampin' Emboss Powder three times at different heights (although you can only see two of them thanks to the sentiment label.)
- I wanted to make the snowflakes the dominant image, but when the panel with the embossed trees was placed right next to the vellum, the trees took center stage. To prevent this I mounted the Silver Foil window, with the vellum glued on the back, on Stampin' Dimensionals, which put the trees in the background and focused the attention on the snowflakes on the windows.
- The sentiment, from Among the Branches, is stamped on Whisper White with Night of Navy ink. To get a fully inked sentiment, I stamped on a Stampin' Pierce Mat. This sentiment coordinates with the 2" Circle Punch and I punched out a Silver Foil backing with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.
