It's good to be back! I had to go away suddenly last week to help my daughter. She had been hit hard by the flu and was really sick. Her hubby stayed home with her for a couple of days, but really needed to get back to work, so Ken and I went to help out with the kids. It caught me unprepared, as I had no projects to share with you for a couple of days, but today I want to share one that I made for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week.
It's kind of an intriguing sketch and here's what I did with it:
- It's been an age since I used my Brick Wall Embossing Folder, and I've been dying to work with it again and this seemed to be the time. I did my stamping, heat embossing and water colouring first and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall Folder. Some sponging with Sahara Sand ink gave it some depth and helped the brick pattern show up better on the Very Vanilla cardstock.
- The background Designer Series Paper is from the Timeless Elegance series. I just love the Art Deco look of the Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand design and the Black and Vanilla design makes a great contrast.
- The flower from the stamp set Remarkable You was stamped in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder. I used Daffodil Delight ink and an Aqua Painter to add the colour. I love how this turned out. When it was dry, I took my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker and added it to areas that needed more shadow or definition.
- To stamp the leaves from the same stamp set, I had to mask the flower by covering it with the same image cut out of a Post It Note, before I stamped them in Versamark and embossed them as well with the Black Stampin' Emboss Powder and watercoloured them with Old Olive ink. Again, I added shadow and definition with the Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker.
