Timeless Tulips for Technique Night Online Classes

As I look toward April classes, and anticipate that we won't be able to gather in person for them, due to COVID-19, I am trying to come up with a different format. One that will allow you, my customers, to participate when I do my Facebook Live demonstrations, but won't cost you an arm and a leg, and in fact, will give you options depending on your financial situations.

The solution I came up with takes into account that I can send you class packages containing cardstock and DSP, cut, punched and die cut, along with embellishments, but I'm not allowed to send you prestamped images, due to copyright issues.
The Plan
Option 1
My plan is to put together class packages like I usually do for three cards, with all the punching and die cutting done, as well as the embellishments, etc. and give you access to the Facebook Live demos for $10.

Option 3
All three cards will use the same stamp set bundle. So if you want to purchase the bundle, I will let you have the card package for just the small shipping cost if you purchase the bundle from me. (Unless you live close enough for me to deliver the card pack and then it's totally free!)

Option 2
Your other option is to just purchase the stamp set and if you do, the card pack will cost you an additional $5 plus a small shipping fee (unless you live close to me, in which case the card package is just $5.00) if you purchase the stamp set from me. (If you already have the stamp set and want to substitute a similarly priced one, you may.) So for purchasing the stamp set from me you get a $5 reduction in the cost of the card package.

April's Technique Night First Sample
I hope that makes sense. Here's the first card from the set, using the Timeless Tulips bundle. It's a Mother's Day card, but doesn't have to be. It could also be a birthday card, a Happy Easter Card or just a generic Hello Card. There are that many useful sentiments in this set.

- This card also uses the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper and Stitched Rectangular Dies. And Scalloped Lace Trim!

Scrappy Strip Technique for As You See It Challenges

Happy Friday, everyone! How are you all making out with the shelter at home initiative? Hands up if you are an introvert and have been training for this your whole life! Oooh, ooh! Me! Me! I'm thriving not having to go out! But I know this is hard on most of you, because my hubby is an extrovert and he is really struggling! I'm encouraging him to find online alternatives to his coffee chats with friends - not just phone calls, but actually seeing their faces and in groups, preferably. Zoom is an alternative, if he can help all his non-techie friends get it installed.

But it's a new challenge day over at As You See It Challenges and I have a special card for my Design Team sample today! It's also going to double as my free Newsletter Tutorial and it teaches a new technique pioneered by Bruno Bertucci. It's called the Scrappy Strip Technique and my version features the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper and coordinating colours of cardstock, as well as the Timeless Tropical stamp set from the Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue.

It meets the requirements of the new Recipe Challenge over at As You See It Challenge:

It has to have flowers, a die cut, ribbon or twine, patterned paper and something shiny. See if you can find all these elements in this closeup:

  • The technique looks like it would be very technical, but it is really very easy and a lot of fun!
  • I used a palette suggested by the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper.
  • The flowers come from both the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set and the In The Tropics Dies.
  • The ribbon is the Braided Burlap Trim which is part of the Tropical Oasis Suite in the mini catalogue.
  • The shiny something is a series of Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the center of the plumeria flowers that I stamped and die cut.
  • The sentiment is a die cut from the In the Tropics Dies. It is cut from Pretty Peacock cardstock.
The tutorial will be a step-by-step photo tutorial that you will be able to get for free in my April Newsletter, which is also free. To subscribe to my newsletter, simply enter your email address and click on Go. It is easy to unsubscribe at any time if you would like to.

Sailing Home 70th Birthday Card

Yesterday was my hubby's 70th birthday! It was very sad. We had a big party planned. All our girls and grandkids were coming and we had rented a facility to throw a fun dinner for family and friends. And then COVID-19 happened and we had to cancel that. And the kids couldn't come. And I'm isolating and couldn't even cook him a nice meal and bake him a cake, because I still had 2 days to go. We ended up ordering in a meal from Skip the Dishes to support a local restaurant that we both like. It's closed to patrons in the restaurant, but can still make food for delivery.

This is the old guy back in his heyday, not long after we first met, 44 years ago:

Not bad, eh? He hasn't changed all that much! ;)

But at least I could still make him a card! (I wore gloves and a mask!)

I used the Sailing Home stamp set along with Smooth Sailing and Under the Sea Dies.

  • Two different designs from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper are used on the card base. My hubby said he wanted a Nautical design for a birthday card this year, and I was excited because it was so long ago that I last used these great nautical themed papers.
  • I stamped the lighthouse in Basic Gray ink and the anchor in Gray Granite and die cut them from the Whisper White cardstock with the Smooth Sailing coordinating dies.
  • The Congrats was embossed with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder on Night of Navy cardstock and die cut with the banner die from the Smooth Sailing Dies. From the same piece of Night of Navy, I die cut the ship's wheel and added a retired **mini brad I still had.
  • The fish net and the seaweed were die cut from the Under the Water dies and the Smooth Sailing dies respectively. The word 'happy' was die cut from Silver Foil using the Well Written dies. The numbers are from an old set called the **Little Numbers thinlits.
  • The last and bottom sentiment is from the Sailing Home stamp set.
