Painted Lavender Bundle for As You See It Challenge #317

perennial lavender bundle for aysi #317 1

Although indigenous to the Mediterranean, lavender grows very well in my area, because it loves well-drained soil. We used to have lavender plants growing in our entrance way in our old house, and when it bloomed, the aroma was wonderful and the bees loved it! If you recall my last post about working smart, this was the second card I made for my catalogue launch, and my favourite of the two. I made it for our Recipe Challenge, As You See It Challenge #317, A Recipe for Robbie Burns, concocted by Team Member Jane. Here's the Challenge Banner:

The Perennial Lavender Suite is one of the most beautiful suites in the Jan/Apr Mini Catalogues, and that's saying a lot because there are so many beauties in there. The photopolymer stamp set is a two-step stamping set and you can get many lovely effects with different hues of purple and lavender and green.

  • On a Shaded Spruce card base, adhere a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper, with the design as you see it.
  • Use the Perennial Postage dies second largest die to create the Gorgeous Grape backing for the card front panel, and the second smallest to create the sentiment panel. The sentiment, from Perennial Postage, is embossed in white on that.
  • The closest I had to plaid was this Crumb Cake gingham, also from the Perennial Lavender DSP, so I die cut a stamp edged rectangle, again using the Perennial Postage dies. This was mounted on a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 3" x 4 1/4", that was embossed using the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder.
  • Using the Painted Lavender dies, I die cut two sprigs of the lavender leaves using Shaded Spruce cardstock and mounted them on the card front as shown using a glue dot.
  • Using the two step stamping method, I stamped three stalks of lavender and three stems. For the stalks, I used Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Fresh Freesia. For the stems I used Shaded Spruce. I experimented with the stalks, trying different combos of the 3 colours, and also whether the darker colour would be on the larger surrounding stamp or the smaller inner image.
  • When I got 3 that I liked i die cut them, and then die cut the three stems and arranged them on the card front using glue dots and one set of Mini Dimensionals for the middle stalk of lavender.
  • I added the sentiment on over the stems using Dimensionals, and the bow, made with Orchid Oasis Metallic Woven Ribbon, using a glue dot.

  1. These papers are my absolute favourites too Heather and I was similarly drawn to them for this challenge! Those inked lavender stems make such a bold statement, as does the white-on-purple sentiment label - all-round gorgeous!
