Christmas in July for The Paper Players

And so it begins...!

The first Christmas Card of the year that I've made. Sorry, I know there are still 169 days left until Christmas 2016, but papercrafters have to plan ahead, right? Well, I probably wouldn't have started quite yet either, but then The Paper Player's had a challenge! Here's the banner for their theme:

So, what the heck! We can always use a little more Christmas, can we not? I don't have much in the way of new Christmas stamp sets and paper, so I had to improvise a little, but it's wonderful how a little red and green together conjure up Christmas images! And that flourish from the new Flourish Thinlits is so versatile, it looks right at home on a Christmas Card.

  • The colour scheme in this card is Old Olive and Real Red. I was originally going to use Cherry Cobbler, but it looked much too subdued for the bokeh effect on the paper, so I switched to Real Red.
  • The Designer Series Paper is from a real treasure: Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack! The 6 x 6 sheets have a photographic image on one side and a graphic image on the other. They are great for making quick cards. Just pick an appropriate scene or texture and stamp an appropriate sentiment on it and slap it on a card front. Easy peasy!
  • Have I told you how much I love that flourish die from the Flourish Thinlits set? If I haven't been effusive enough, you will soon see as I use it over and over again! Gorgeous! And it really works on this Christmas card, doesn't it?
  • The sentiment is from one of last year's favourites, Reason for the Season stamp set. I've made liberal use of the Enamel Shapes, both the gold, from the Metallics pack and the Real Red from the Brights pack. They really add some sparkle to the project.
Not sure what I have planned for the weekend, but I'm looking forward to it anyway. We've had some rain so I'm hoping it clears up. Before I go I want to remind you to get your orders to me for this promotion:

You'll need a $60 order to qualify, but that shouldn't be a problem with all the wonderful new products in the Annual Catalogue. In fact, if you were to order the Flourish Thinlits, the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack and a pack of Metallics Enamel Shapes, you would have enough to earn a coupon!
