Beautiful Boughs and Puff Paint Wreath

I had imagined a wreath made with the Beautiful Boughs dies and the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint quite some time ago, but just recently was able to find the time to put one together. It wasn't difficult to do, just a bit tedious with repetitive steps to get enough foliage to make the wreath bushy enough. Even at that, there are still a few spots that I feel could use some more pine boughs.

  • I created a base for my wreath using two sizes of paper plates and tracing their circumferences on a piece of the stiff cardboard that comes in a package of Foil Sheets. The smaller plate is centered in the circumference of the larger one before tracing it. Then they are cut out with sturdy scissors.
  • The wreath shape is traced on an piece of Shaded Spruce 12" x 12" cardstock and it is hand trimmed with scissors and glued onto the cardboard wreath.
  • I die cut 12 of the large boughs and 12 of the medium sized boughs in Shaded Spruce cardstock and I die cut 6 large and 6 medium in Granny Apple Green as well.
  • I die cut 5 solid pine cones in Crumb Cake and 5 overlay layers in Early Espresso. I glued the overlays on the solid die cut using the Fine Tip Glue Pen and let them sit for awhile to set up.
  • Using the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint, I added it to all of the boughs except for 3 large and 3 medium Shaded Spruce boughs and heat set it with the Heat Tool causing it to puff up into 3D snow effects. I added it to the pinecones as well.
  • I added all the boughs to the wreath using glue dots, with the un-snowed boughs first at the bottom then the rest, alternating between the Shaded Spruce and the Granny Apple Green, medium and large.
  • I added the pine cones well distributed around the wreath. I made a double finger bow using the Real Red 1" Ruched Ribbon and added that, then made a loop of it to add to the top back as well for hanging the wreath.
I will be making a few more boughs to add to the sparse places, I think.
