Flower Frenzy for As You See It Challenges

I love the colours that Amanda used in this week's As You See It Challenge #49 and I was excited to get started on it.

It looks icy cool and mouthwatering, doesn't it?  I thought it would be a perfect challenge for the new Cupcake  Party stamp set that coordinates with the Cupcake Builder Punch.  The trouble is, I don't have it yet.  It's on my wishlist, but that didn't help me for this challenge.

So, my next thought was Flower Frenzy Bigz L die and here is the result:

  • I kept it simple because of the big flowers and just added a sentiment from Yippee Skippee in the top right.
  • I put three 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" sheets of cardstock through the Big Shot with the Flower Frenzy Bigz L die all at once: 1 sheet of Blackberry Bliss, one of Strawberry Slush and one of Very Vanilla - all very foody colours!  Then I mixed and matched pieces until I created the three flowers you see.
  • I used my bone folder to give the petals some shape and create interest with the 3D effects.
Aaaannnndd, that's about it!  I have to say that I've used the Flower Frenzy Bigz L die several times since I got it in June and it is so useful for creating quick and cute embellishments for cards, gifts, boxes and other things as well.  I feel that I have already got my money's worth from it!  Check out these projects.

I will be setting up shop at the Westbank Farmer's Market on Saturday!  I will have some great deals, great prizes and games, some retired products for sale as well as some kits and I am looking forward to meeting you!  Come and say hello!

Have a great weekend, and I hope you will try this latest challenge from As You See It Challenges this week!  Thanks for dropping by!

Back to Black - Last Day of Designer Series Paper Promotion

Today is the last day of Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper Promotion!  So I designed this card to promote one of the collections that is part of the sale:  Back to Black!

In our last catalogue, we had a Basic Black Designer series but it was paired with Very Vanilla, which didn't sit right with a few people. This year we have a series in Basic Black and Whisper White for all the purists out there!  I love black and white cards, with maybe a little silver thrown it!  It's so elegant and a tad dramatic which suits me just fine!  Me, Heather Cooper, aka "The Drama Queen" according to my hubby! Not for a tendency to blow everything out of proportion, but because I ran the drama ministry at our church and the drama program at the school where I taught, for so long.

The Designer Series Paper Promotion, in case you've forgotten the details, is Buy 3 packages of any of the Designer Series Paper on pages 186 - 187 in the 2014-15 Annual Catalogue and get one package free. That is like 25% off!  But you need to act fast to take advantage of the offer.  Call or email me today.

  • On the Basic Black cardstock we have the Whisper White panel and covering half of that is the Back To Black DSP.
  • I used some of the new Silver Satin Ribbon to mask the join of the DSP.  It is the most elegant ribbon I've owned in quite some time.  It has a heavy weight and a glossy sheen and it's just beautiful, as are the other colours, Gold, Whisper White and Very Vanilla.
  • The leaves are die cut with the Flower Frenzy Bigz L die.  This is one large die that I will never regret purchasing because I know that I am going to get a lot of use out of it.  It has probably already paid for itself!  I used both Basic Black cardstock and our Brushed Silver Cardstock.

  • The Flower Shop Stamp Set is another really useful set that I have inked up continually since I purchased it last year.  It pairs with the Pansy Punch, although sometimes it can be tricky to line them up.  I have marked where the bottom of the punch should fit, on my wood block so I know to stamp that petal towards the bottom of the paper. Hope that little tip helps.
  • The sentiment is actually a Photopolymer Stamp from the Project Life Remember This set.  I loved the look of the little fireworks on each end of the congratulations, and actually, after I took this photo, I added some Rhinestones on the stars to up the bling factor!!
Thanks for dropping by today.  By the way, I am getting awfully close to 150,00 page views!  I think it is about time for another Blog Candy Give Away!  Stay tuned this weekend for the details!

Also, tomorrow, August 1, you will be able to order ALL the colours of the Blendabilities Markers and there is a Big Shot promotion coming.  Pop back tomorrow to find out the details!

Roomie Gifts at #InspireCreateShare for Stampin' Up!

Another delightful tradition at Stampin' Up! Conventions is the tradition of Roomie Gifts.  It involves creating cute little gifts for your roommates.  They are not expensive gifts but fun and useful during convention and people usually get a little creative in the packaging.

This year I had some fun making little boxes to fit some Smarties (like chocolate M&M's for my American readers), some Excel gum, a little souvenir pin from Canada and a homemade bookmark.  I got the idea for the box from the boxes I made here.

I adjusted the dimensions of the red box in the picture above to change it from a square to a rectangle that would fit a Smarties box and was shallower so I could pack them all in my suitcase.

  • I used the Flower Frenzy Bigz L die to create all the flowered embellishments for the belly bands on the boxes.  I'm sure going to get my money's worth out of that die!  I love that you can get so many great floral shapes in one swipe of the Big Shot!  Here I used Strawberry Slush, Smoky Slate and Whisper White cardstock.
  • The tops of the boxes were made using  6 1/2" x 4" pieces of Strawberry Slush DSP from the 2013-15 Designer Series Paper Stacks.  They were scored at 3/4" on all sides.  The bottoms were made from Strawberry Slush cardstock cut at 7" x 4 1/2" and scored at 1" on all sides.

 And speaking of boxes:
Win Free Stamp Sets, Big Shot Dies, Blendabilities and More!
I want you to know that inside each of these adorable containers is a pretty significant prize including a free stamp set, a free die for the Big Shot, free Blendabilities, etc.  And you could win one of these prizes simply by booking a private class with me before August 30 or by signing up to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator on my team.  Here's how to do it:

1. Each of these containers is made from a 6" x 6" square of 2013/15 In Colour Designer Series Paper Stack.  Choose one of the 5 colours:  Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush.  Email me with the colour you want to pick, and some dates in July and August that you could do a private class with 5 or 6 of your friends (your house or mine)  OR follow the links on the top menu to Join My Team.

2.  I will email you back and let you know the prize you could win.  I will bring your prize with me when I go to do your private class or when you have completed the paperwork to become a demonstrator.

Sounds fun? (And Easy?)  The deadline for this contest is after I return home from Conventions on Monday July 21, 2014 at 12 midnight PDT.
