Project Suite for the Floral Boutique Product Suite

I've got to hurry up and get this post finished! As I write this the thunder is really rumbling and I'm worried that a big thunderstorm will knock out the power and I won't have my blog post finished in time, so full speed ahead. As promised on Friday, I worked all weekend on several projects using the Floral Boutique Suite of products and the Night of Navy, Whisper White and Silver palette and I'm super excited to share with you what I made. It almost makes up for the sad,sad day I had on Friday, one of the cards reflecting that tragedy. Here's a look at the Product Suite from the catalogue:

There's the Floral Phrases Stamp Set and the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies (which you can bundle for a 10% saving), there's the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and the Designer Washi Tape, and the Solid Baker's Twine in Night of Navy. I used most of these products (minus the Baker's Twine) in my little ensemble of projects.

  • You can see the Thank You card that I posted on Friday. You can see more about that one here.
  • I made a Sympathy card for a the family of a dear friend and customer who passed away on Friday. More about that later in this post.
  • I made a gift bag using the Gift Bag Punch Board.
  • The last item is a greeting card pack holder made using the Envelope Punch Board.

As I mentioned, Friday was a particularly sad day for me. It started out with the news that a little five year old girl from Alberta, who had been abducted after her mother had been murdered had also been found murdered. We had all been praying and hoping against hope that the police could find her alive and unhurt. Then came the news of the terrorist attack in Nice, France, But the worst news was that a dear friend and customer of mine for three or so years had passed away early Friday morning. She had been bravely fighting cancer for at least a year and a half, and her optimism and unbreakable spirit were awe-inspiring! She just wouldn't give up even though the prognosis was pretty grim! In fact, I would like to dedicate this post to Daphne, to her love of stamping, her creativity and her love and care for others. She was an inspiration to all of us! This card is made for her family and I wanted it to be the best I could make it:

  • I used Whisper White for the outer jacket, die cut using the Detailed Floral Thinlits. To do this you need to cut your cardstock in half at 4 1/4" x 11" and score at 3 1/2" and 9" on the 11" side. Then use the two thinlits along with the edgelit to die cut the design in both sides of the front.
  • I embossed the sentiment and border from Floral Phrases stamp set in White Stampin' Emboss Powder on Night of Navy cardstock and used Whisper White cardstock and some of the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper to make the series of panels that form the borders you see.
  • This panel opens up to another inside sentiment as well.

This gift bag, using the Gift Bag Punch Board with the Floral Boutique DSP, was fairly straight forward, using the directions on the punch board itself for the bottom of the bag. Before assembling the bottom, I scored the top at 2" from the end and used the punch board to punch at either end of one of the wider panels. I then trimmed off all of the top at the score line except for this panel and this formed a flap which closed over the top of the bag and, when I used the other side of the punch to add centered holes, I was able to add some Silver Satin Ribbon to secure it.
  • To hold a selection of 8 hand stamped greeting cards, this holder makes a great gift. It's made using the Envelope Punch Board. Here's the other side showing the rest of the belly band:

And here's the way it opens:

Roomie Gifts for Inspire. Create. Share. 2015 Using the Gift Bag Punch Board

One of the loveliest traditions of Stampin' Up! Conventions is the tradition of having little gifts for your hotel roommates. And being papercrafters, of course there is always a homemade papercrafted part to the roomie gifts. This year I had three roomie gifts to prepare and they were for good friends so I wanted to create something memorable for them. I got out my new Gift Bag Punch Board, and the In Colour Envelope Paper and  a new stamp with Stampin' Up!'s Statement of the Heart on it and got to work.

I bought lots of little things that might come in handy at Convention, such as safety pins, a lint roller, hem tape, a little book light and a pen ready to pack into these fancy bags when they were finished.

  • I found that the Gift Bag Punch Board was a little harder to use than the other punch boards at first, because the instructions are a bit more involved, but once I had done one, it was easy after that. I made the large size bag and you can go anywhere from 4" to 12" tall, but I chose 9" for my bags in order to fit in all the stuff I had. I used Fast Fuse Adhesive to assemble them and it is certainly strong enough to keep the bag together even with the weight of the items in the bag. One caution is to have a very light touch with the scoring tool, when you are using this paper or any DSP, so that you won't get the scores tearing opening.
  • I used a variety of stamp sets for all the labels on the the bags. I mentioned that I just got a stamp, only available to demonstrators, that has Stampin' Up!'s Statement of the Heart on it. I love this statement, because it is the essence of my business! I love to make a difference in people's lives and I think making time for creativity, whatever form it might take, does a world of good for people.
  • The other sets are Happy Birthday, Everyone and Groovy Love as well as the Rotary Alphabet stamp for the names.
  • I used three different framelit sets for the labels. The big ones are the Lots of Labels Framelits. The bottom sentiment is die cut using the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits, and the tags at the top are from the Tags & Labels Framelits!
Although the Convention officially starts tomorrow, today we had a shopping day!! With great success, I might add!  Here we were, just getting started:

                                     Holly's awesome haircut!

Clarkes for shoes! (Husbands, you can start worrying anytime now!)

Holly in the corner because she tried to get to get one too many discounts!

The awesome salesperson, Nate, at Clarkes who managed to talk Terry and Holly into buying shoes when they didn't even intend to!

Terry is clearly up to no good, in an Italian restaurant!

Ending the evening with cannoli!

Tomorrow, we will get to see the unveiling of the 2015 Holiday Catalogue and I will be able to preorder some of the products to share with you when I get home! Stay tuned!
