What's New at SU Blog Hop with The Raven

I'm so pleased that you are joining us for our hop. We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ With Exciting Ideas to share with you. Our theme this month is Fall or Halloween! I hope you'll find some exciting ideas to help you!

The products that I'm sharing with you are The Raven stamp set, the Wicked Dies and the Coffin Treat Boxes. All these products can be found in the Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday Catalogue.

I also used some Shimmery White Embossing Paste, dyed black and the new Basic Pattern Decorative Masks, also from the Holiday Catalogue. You can see the effects of this treatment on the coffin lids.

  • Before assembling the coffin treat box lid, I dyed a small amount Shimmery White Embossing Paste with 2 drops of Memento Tuxedo Black Refill ink. I then used the brocade pattern decorative mask on the tops of the coffin lids and the palette knife to spread the Embossing Paste thinly and smoothly over it to create a pattern on each one. You need to let them dry thoroughly before assembling and clean off all embossing paste from the tabs before they dry to make applying the adhesive to them much easier, and allow them to close snugly.
  • I also dyed some tulle fabric in a small container of rubbing alcohol and Memento Tuxedo Black refill ink. I used over 20 drops of ink for about 1/8 cup of alcohol. (Even though my daughter has been out of ballet for 15 years, I still have scraps of tulle lying around!) I used some of it to gather in a tuft behind the raven on one of the coffins and for a bow on the other coffin. You might want to wear gloves to do this as the black dye does come off the tulle even when it feels dry.
  • I stamped and fussy cut two feathers and two ravens. I used the Stamparatus to stamp them in order to get a sharp, full coverage image with the Memento ink. One coffin had the two ravens on it - an "Attempted Murder" of crows you might say! Lol. The two feathers went on the other along with the word "Wicked", die cut with one of the Wicked Dies from Gorgeous Grape cardstock. There is also some of the Black Satin Ribbon on the other one.
  • The card has a sponged background using a mask for the moon, Soft Seaform, So Saffron, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Smoky Slate and Night of Navy inks. The branch and sentiment were stamped directly onto the sponged background, while the raven was stamped on Whisper White, fussy cut and glued to sponged layer for a bit more depth.
  • The word "Wicked" is die cut again from Granny Apple Green cardstock and glued to the cardfront.

I hope you enjoyed my design with The Raven. Now please hop on over to Loni Spendlove's blog to see what's new with SU in her world:
