Floral Phrases for As You See It Challenges

I found the colour challenge from Amanda for As You See It Challenge #156 this week very unusual. I don't know about you, but those are not colours that I would normally choose to work with together. But that's why this is called a challenge, right? What do you think? Here is the Inspiration Photo:

It does remind me of a berry-filled summer salad, however! But the combination needs to be worked with carefully to avoid looking too intense or busy. Lots of white is helpful! Here is my version:

  • As I was looking through my stamps, my eyes fell on Floral Phrases. It's been awhile since I had that set inked up and the more I looked at it, the more I realized that with the tonal variations the stamps create, the less intense the Elegant Eggplant would look and the easier it would blend with the Real Red and Lemon Lime Twist.
  • I added a panel of the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack in Lemon Lime Twist to the Elegant Eggplant card base. I thought it would be better to use one with a white background and green designs, but that ended up looking busier than using the green background with small white designs.
  • The sentiment is from Floral Phrases and does look elegant stamped in Real Red. I tried different die cuts for it, but it's just too large for any of the banner dies I have, so I went with the smallest Stitched Shape oval I had and backed it with a Scallop Oval die cut in Real Red with the Layering Oval dies.
  • That was mounted using Dimensionals over a flirty little double twist of the Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon and some Lemon Lime Glitter Enamel Dots give a little more interest and balance to the design.
I still have my kids and grandkids with me. They will be going home sometime this weekend, but it's been a lovely visit, although Grandma is pretty weary at this point! The wonderful hugs and cuddles and snuggles made up for it though. What I wouldn't give to have them live in the same city!

Have a great weekend!
