Oh, So Eclectic for Freshly Made Sketches

Up until this week, I had only begun to play with the Oh, So Eclectic Suite and I didn't realize how amazing it was! When I finally got to play with everything, I was astounded at what you could do with this beautiful set. It includes the Oh, So Eclectic stamp set, the Eclectic Layers Thinlits, the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, the 5/8" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and the Naturally Eclectic Card Overlays. The only thing I didn't have to work with was the card overlays. I decided that the cutout thinlit would work perfectly for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #299:

I thought this was a rather unique sketch and I was anxious to play along, but I've had my grandkids here all weekend and it was difficult finding a moment or two to get to my craft room. In fact, when I finally did get down there, I had an entourage following me, who discovered that the shiny images on Stampin' Up! punches reflect on to my white cupboard doors when the light hits them and thus become "projectors". This was the reason that my whole punch shelf was emptied and my punches strewn from one end of the house to the other! But to have the company of those sweet babies was well worth the distraction from my task and the job did get finished! Here is the outcome:

  • To get the colour variations in the columns, I die cut the grid image in some Glossy White cardstock (so I could watercolour after) and, after adding a wash of Lemon Lime Twist on the front, mounted some Berry Burst strips top and bottom on opposite sides before mounting on a slightly larger sheet of Tranquil Tide.
  • The large flower background is stamped in Berry Burst and hand cut, while the die cut is completed with Berry Burst cardstock and mounted on the background. I love the painted wash look of the stamps. The smaller flower background is stamped in Pool Party and the outline is die cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock. The leaves are die cut from Tranquil Tide cardstock.
  • They are all mounted on a piece of the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper punched with the new Starburst Punch and then some Silver Metallic Thread is looped on the back and secured with Glue Dots.
  • The sentiment is also from the Oh So Eclectic stamp set (and I think I can finally type eclectic without having to stop and fix it now!) The finishing touch is a gorgeous big bow using the 5/8" Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon in Emerald Envy.
