Fanciful Fragrance for As You See It Challenges

This week we've hit our 220th challenge at As You See It Challenges and it's a colour challenge, and the colours are very warm ones reminiscent of flames, if it weren't for the abundance of white, which somehow makes the rest seem quite delicate! So I'm calling the challenge this week "Fragile Flames"! Here's a look at the graphic:

I was also looking for a feminine design for a birthday card for an upcoming class, so I dug out the Fanciful Fragrance stamp set from the Annual Catalogue, and all of a sudden, this post is brought to you by the letter F!! Fanciful Fragrance for Fragile Flames! Take a closer look:

  • And just to stick two more "Fs" in there, the background panel, in Grapefruit Grove cardstock, is embossed with the Parisian 'Flourish' 3D Embossing Folder - let's see now: Fanciful Fragrance and Flourish Folder for Fragile Flames!
  • The Whisper White front panel is collage stamped with images from the Fanciful Fragrance stamp set. The perfume bottles are stamped in Grapefruit Grove, but over top of some script stamped in Mango Melody that has been stamped off a couple of time. The flowers at the top were inked up in Mango Melody and then some Poppy Parade was added with a sponge dauber. Finally the Fleur-de-lis was stamped in Poppy Parade that was stamped off twice, if you can believe it because it's still so vibrant. I would have stamped it off a third time if I had known.
  • The sentiment is also from the Fanciful Fragrance set, stamped in Poppy Parade and die cut with the Stitched Rectangle dies. It's actually backed with two stitched rectangles of the same size, one in Poppy Parade cardstock and one in Mango Melody. I looked for a Happy Birthday in a flowy script, but I couldn't find one I liked, so decided to stick with that.
That's a wrap! Enjoy your weekend! Play along with As You See It Challenges if you have a chance!

Bonanza Buddies for Technique Nights

The Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue has one of the cutest kid's birthday suites we've had in a long time, The Birthday Bonanza Suite! It consists of the Bonanza Buddies Photopolymer stamp set, the coordinating Bonanza dies and the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper, along with some ruched Daffodil Delight ribbon and some assorted pompoms.

I'm preparing for my March Technique Night classes, which I'm planning on turning into a minor Birthday Buffet, and my design for a kids' card uses this suite. Here is the full-sized photo:

  • Although I concentrated on the adorable koala, there are two other animals you can make  (and more, if you check out the stamp set on Google): a lion and a toucan.
  • You can also create birthday gifts, birthday hats, balloons and banners as well as the tags I used as background for my koalas. The tags here are created from the Birthday Bonanza DSP.
  • I used the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing folder to make some texture on the Terracotta Tile background cardstock for this card.
  • This is a 2 Step Stamping set, so the Photopolymer format is perfect, making it easy to locate where to place the second stamp. For the koala holding the balloons, I stamped the balloon strings on the tag first and then on the Koala's hand. When I applied adhesive to the back of the koala, I matched up the strings on the tag and on the koala when I put the koala on the tag, for continuity. The balloons were die cut and added with dimensionals.
My colour palette follows the Designer Series Paper:

  • Everything could be die cut with the coordinated Bonanza Dies except for the gifts and they were super easy to fussy cut because of their shapes.
  • Some embellishments I added are from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure, but sadly, they are out-of-stock already, and that is the Metallic Baker's Twine & Sequins Combo Pack. I hope you were able to get yours before they sold out!
Here are a few more ideas with this suite. It really is adorable!
