Bonanza Buddies for Technique Nights

The Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue has one of the cutest kid's birthday suites we've had in a long time, The Birthday Bonanza Suite! It consists of the Bonanza Buddies Photopolymer stamp set, the coordinating Bonanza dies and the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper, along with some ruched Daffodil Delight ribbon and some assorted pompoms.

I'm preparing for my March Technique Night classes, which I'm planning on turning into a minor Birthday Buffet, and my design for a kids' card uses this suite. Here is the full-sized photo:

  • Although I concentrated on the adorable koala, there are two other animals you can make  (and more, if you check out the stamp set on Google): a lion and a toucan.
  • You can also create birthday gifts, birthday hats, balloons and banners as well as the tags I used as background for my koalas. The tags here are created from the Birthday Bonanza DSP.
  • I used the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing folder to make some texture on the Terracotta Tile background cardstock for this card.
  • This is a 2 Step Stamping set, so the Photopolymer format is perfect, making it easy to locate where to place the second stamp. For the koala holding the balloons, I stamped the balloon strings on the tag first and then on the Koala's hand. When I applied adhesive to the back of the koala, I matched up the strings on the tag and on the koala when I put the koala on the tag, for continuity. The balloons were die cut and added with dimensionals.
My colour palette follows the Designer Series Paper:

  • Everything could be die cut with the coordinated Bonanza Dies except for the gifts and they were super easy to fussy cut because of their shapes.
  • Some embellishments I added are from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure, but sadly, they are out-of-stock already, and that is the Metallic Baker's Twine & Sequins Combo Pack. I hope you were able to get yours before they sold out!
Here are a few more ideas with this suite. It really is adorable!

Bookcase Builder for Global Design Project

There's a fun challenge going on this week at Global Design Project. It's a theme project and the theme is Kids! Since I have six grandchildren, it caught my interest right away and it is also the kind of challenge that I can use for my Birthday Buffet class later this month. Here's the banner:

And LeAnne over at The Paper Players has a monochromatic colour challenge happening at this week! Check it out:

So I pulled out my new Ruffled Dynamic Embossing Folder and the Bookcase Builder stamp set and got to work. Here's how it turned out, a great birthday card for a little girl:

  • The Bookcase Builder stamp set is so versatile! You can make a child's card, a baby card or a sophisticated adult card all with the same set! This design works for a toddler best but depending on the colours you use, many of the other images, combined with the teddy bear and piggy bank would work for kids of all ages.
  • The new Ruffled Embossing Folder is AMAZING! but you don't want to be covering up too much of it. Even with the two smaller panels I've used here, you don't get the full effect. On another card I'm going to make it the main event except for a sentiment and a ribbon so you can see the waves and levels it makes. It really looks like layered ruffles!
  • The sentiment is from Birthday Banners stamped in Berry Burst and Sweet Sugarplum and die cut using the Bunches of Banners Framelits. After I die cut the sentiment, I trimmed it further right to the stamped line, using my Paper Snips. Then I die cut another banner shape from Rich Razzleberry cardstock and glued the sentiment on it giving a very narrow border of Rich Razzleberry all around the sentiment for a more finished look.
  • The ribbon is the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon in Berry Burst. I just love this ribbon and it makes beautiful bows. I used a few glue dots to position all the parts of the bow just the way I wanted them and then added the sentiment to fit within the bow as you see it here, using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I hope you've been giving this promotion some thought, because you really have nothing to lose and so much to gain! During the month of July, Stampin' Up! is adding an extra $94 of product to the Starter Kit which is available for $135. For that price you get to choose $165 worth of any current Stampin' Up! products, plus Stampin' Up! will include this package free, all of this with no shipping charges or tax:

The Carols of Christmas stamp set is one half of an amazing bundle that you will be able to get before it is available to the public August 1st. As a demonstrator, you can also take advantage of 20% discounts on all products minimum, and you will be able to pre-order from and see the new Holiday catalogue a whole month ahead of the public! How can you lose? You don't have to sell if you don't want to, but you need to maintain a 3 month minimum level of sales to remain a demonstrator. No one is going to hassle you if you don't however. If you do decide to make some extra money with the products and the hobby that you love, it is not hard to get started and I am here to help you. Let's Go to the Fair!

January is one of our family's birthday months. Besides me, two of my little grandsons have January birthdays, two nieces and two good friends also were born in January! So I wanted to get a bit of a head start on the birthday cards! This one is for one of the grandsons. I just love this vintage looking set with the circus tents in the background and the carousel horse in front. It's from the Carousel Birthday** stamp set and it's part of the Cupcakes & Carousels Suite** of products in the new Occasions Catalogue, which you will be able to order from starting January 4, 2017!

**New Products from the new 2017 Occasions Catalogue, available Jan, 4, 2017.

Along with the Occasions Catalogue, will be the start of Sale-A-Bration 2017, Stampin' Up!'s biggest promotion of the year, where you can earn a selection of free products just by spending $60 with Stampin' Up!

I am starting to hand out these catalogues now at events and in orders, so let me know if you'd like you'd like one and I'll make sure you get one.

The whole suite kind of reminds me of one of my family's favourite places to go when my kids were growing up - Burnaby Village Museum. They have a vintage carousel there that the girls used to love:

  • The background Designer Series Paper is called Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Stack** and I love the vintage feel of it, This design was perfect for my carousel pony and circus tents.
  • The pre-diecut label, the ombre ribbon and the Pool Party/gold Baker's Twine are all part of an Embellishment kit that goes along with this suite called...you guessed it...Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit**. This kit also contains some sequins, some mini tassels and some Pool Party paper bows.
  • I stamped the carousel pony, the tents and the sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink and colored in the tents and the pony with the Watercolour pencils**, blending them with a Blender Pen, I probably won't stop singing their praises until a least June, so prepare yourself.
  • Alas, I had to fussy cut the pony as there is no coordinating die for it, unfortunately, but it wasn't too hard and it was well worth the effort, don't you think?
  • The Stitched Shape Framelits formed the circle background for the stamped images. These are out of stock and unorderable right now, but will be available again January 16th!
**New Products from the new 2017 Occasions Catalogue, available Jan, 4, 2017.

The Order Deadline for having products here in time for Christmas has come and gone, but you can still give the gift of Stampin' Up! for Christmas! The answer is a Gift Certificate. These can be any denomination and can be used for products or classes and they come in a cute little Santa belly gift envelope. I will be here until Monday, Dec.19, depending on the weather for you to pick one up. After that, I can email a gift certificate to you and you can print it off. It won't be as fancy, but it will get the job done! Contact me by phone or text at 250-768-7379, or email me.
