I don't know about you but I had kind of a crazy weekend, so I was scrambling Sunday night to get a card made for this morning! I wanted to enter the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the deadline is today. I'm exploring all the beautiful new Designer Series Paper that arrived on Friday and I'm so happy with them all! The set I decided to use today for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #190 is Timeless Elegance and it is such gorgeous paper, I almost didn't know which design to use! But one was perfect for this challenge:
I chose the design with the shaded roses on the paper and I die cut one of the smaller ones with the Ovals Collection Framelits and it made the perfect focal point for the card. With the colours of the DSP being Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand, the design can't help but be a little vintage looking, but I've always loved that look anyway. Here's a closer look:
- Along with the rose in the oval, I also used Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper for the side panel. I think I've created the ultimate Grandmother card here, with the lace and the sentiment and the colour palette, but that's okay....I am a grandmother!
- I used the new Basic Black Stitched Satin Ribbon. You've seen this ribbon before, but with different colours - the 2014/16 In Colours. Now you can get this lovely ribbon in Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point and Whisper White.
- The sentiment from the Trust God stamp set is stamped in Sahara Sand and has the perfect fonts for this elegant card!
- The Sahara Sand Lace Trim just added an extra bit of softness to all the vertical lines on the card front. I briefly considered adding it around the oval, but decided that would be too much for the space.
This was really a very quick and easy card to make and it's nice to have design paper that you can do that with once in a while.
I had my 2015/16 Annual Catalogue Launch and Rubber Rummage Sale on Saturday with all my newly retired products available for sale. It was a great success, but, of course, I still have lots of product left to get to new and loving homes! Before I put it all away, I photographed everything and will shortly update my lists and give you the links to the Stamps and the Accessories.
One of the games we played was 2 Minutes to Win It, where contestants had to put away the Work of Art Stamp Set in 2 minutes. (No one could do it in 1 minute and very few in 2!) It was funny and a lot harder than it looks!
I also managed to get some Macarons in every new In Colour except Mint Macaron. It was the first time I had ever tasted one and it was really good! I was able to explain the difference with these teaching aids between Macarons and Macaroons, so everyone is cleared up on that point now!
