I've had several new stamp sets arrive over the past few days, and it was time to put them to work. So many ideas were vying for attention in my brain, that I needed to get these designs completed and give the old noggin a rest! The first idea I wanted to try was watercolouring with this new set, Best Thoughts, using gold accents and embossing. This set is a Host set and is only available to those who qualify for Stampin' Rewards. The layout of this card came from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #191:
This is definitely a Clean and Simple design and I tried to keep it that way, using lots of white space and only two elements. The size of the image, though, helps to fill in the area elegantly.
- Hydrangeas make such great stamped images and they're fun to watercolour as well. I embossed the image in Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, along with the sentiment. I used Rose Red ink and an Aqua Painter to apply the colour, with Old Olive ink for the leaves and stem.
- The narrow border from the sketch looks great here in gold foil, echoing the gold embossing on the image.
- The background Designer Series Paper is from the English Garden collection and it's watercolour appearance is just right for this design.
Tin of Cards Classes
I had told you that I was going to show you some variations of the designs from the Tin of Cards Project Kit today, but when I was getting ready to order some kits for two of my classes, I found that they are backordered until July 17th, which was too late for those classes, so both have been postponed until August. I will post those classes again, closer to the dates in August so you can let me know then if you are interested. There was no sense in promoting it if you couldn't purchase the kit right away, so I focused my efforts in new directions.
