Good Morning Magnolia Sneak Peek

I had a very strange Easter weekend. I spent most of it in the Cardiac ward of our local hospital with my husband, as we experienced a sort of resurrection story of our own. My hubby, Ken, has been having incidents lately that he described as his lungs burning when he exercised, but they would clear up as he continued doing what he was doing, so he dismissed it as being out of shape. But it seemed as though the frequency of the incidents were increasing and for very much less exertion. He brought it up at his doctor's office but they advised him to make an appointment with the new doctor we will be seeing when our current doctor retires, so it didn't seem like an emergency.

But Good Friday, as we were going to the church service, he got out of the car and walked about 5 to 10 steps toward the church and started having the pain again. I could see that it bothered him well into the service and I didn't like the look on his face, so after church I insisted on taking him to get it checked out. The walk in clinic we went to gave him some baby aspirin to chew and some squirts of nitroglycerin and sent him straight to emergency. But in the emergency ward, the ECG and blood tests weren't detecting anything until Ken got up and started walking some laps around the ward to get something going. Sure enough it did and then the results showed up and they admitted him and a cardiologist diagnosed a minor heart attack and blockages in the arteries to his heart.

On Saturday, they did an angiogram and inserted 5 stents where he had some 90% blockages, so he was brewing a major heart attack! Easter Sunday, I was able to take him home, so thankful that his body gave him the warning signals that it did and that it was so easy to fix the problem! Now, it's not a cure and he will have to be on meds for the rest of his life and make some lifestyle changes, and be alert to his body's signals, but he felt so good to be alive and able to enjoy more of life with his family.

Now, amidst all that excitement, my Product Purchase Premier that had arrived on Thursday, just sat and gathered dust until I brought Ken home on Sunday. Then I managed to find a few moments to play with one of the new stamp sets and accessories! It was the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set* and the *Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes.

  • I used the back side of one of the *Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, as the front side has a silver embossed frame on it that wouldn't work because the main image is so large.
  • I stamped the images in Basic Black Archival Ink (retired) so I could watercolour. The leaves were watercoloured in layers in Mossy Meadow, drying in between layers with the heat tool. The large magnolia flower is coloured in Whisper White Craft Ink. That is allowed to dry and then another layer of Petal Pink Stampin' Write Marker is added in the shadowed areas.
  • The smaller blossoms are painted in Merry Merlot and Whisper White Craft Ink with Petal Pink mixed in using the Stampin' Write Marker again.
  • The sentiment is one of several in the Good Morning Magnolia, and is also stamped in the Basic Black Archival ink (retired).
  • The embellishment is from the Magnolia Lane Cork Embellishments set.
