Happy Thanksgiving

I've been enjoying having my youngest daughter and her family here for Thanksgiving weekend. Here in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving the second weekend in October.  Officially,  it's the second Monday, but usually that's a travelling day for people and Thanksgiving dinner is eaten on either Saturday or Sunday. We had ours last night complete with turkey and pumpkin pie and played a few games of Yahtzee afterwards. I watched the Great British Baking Show with my daughter and it wasn't until I got ready for bed that I remembered that I still had a blog post to write! So this is a quick post to wish you Happy Thanksgiving, show you some card samples and a video from Stampin' Up!, and give myself a bit of a holiday break!

  • This is a card I made specifically for my Thanksgiving greeting to all of you! It's the first time I've inked up my Pleasant Pheasants stamp set. This is one of the fall images in the set. I coloured it in using Stampin' Blends and die cut it with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.
  • You can see a fragment of the Chicken Wire Elements and the Country Lane Designer Series Paper between the front die cut and the Galvanized Metal embossed using the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder.

These two cards are ones I made for Stampin' Up! friends who recently promoted, one to Silver Elite and one to Gold Elite!  The one who promoted to Silver Elite also earned the incentive trip to Greece! I thought the Bethlehem Edgelit dies with the roofs paper pieced with Pacific Point looked just like Greece! What do you think?

I'll leave you with a video from Stampin' Up!:

If you're one of my Canadian readers, enjoy your holiday today!

Autumn in a Country Lane

As summer winds down, and we look towards the Labour Day weekend coming up, it's with more than a twinge of regret and a heap of relief for myself and many British Columbians, as we anticipate cooler weather, more rain and hopefully, the end of the forest fires and smoke-choked skies. The regret is for the summer that we had to spend half of indoors because of the poor air quality, which at times, was the worst in the world. But we had some rain which washed away the smoke temporarily and gave us a glimpse of clear skies and a bit of hope. And honestly, it was easy for us. We weren't among those who had to battle the flames, or be evacuated or who lost everything in the fires, so we count our blessings and pray for those who had it much worse.

These photos show a little of what it was like. The map shows the number of forest fires burning in the province a week or so ago. It looks like someone with a bad case of the measles!

So, yes, we're ready to write off summer and look forward to autumn, which brings me around to the card I want to share with you today. It uses a new suite from the up-coming Holiday Catalogue, Country Lane!

  • There are so many elements of this Country Lane Suite that I adore, I almost don't know where to start, but the Country Home stamp set* is as good a place as any! I love the two containers: the rustic jug and the milk can and then there are two bouquets of fall designs that you can stamp on top of either container. (The Stamparatus comes in handy here.) There are 8 sentiments, a tin tile design and a little plaque that fits the smaller sentiments.
  • If you look behind the stamped panel you see a portion of an embossed Tin Tile layer. To make this I used the new Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder* and the Galvanized Metallic Paper*! It's so effective. Some of the other elements of the suite not included in this sample are Chicken Wire Elements*, Braided Linen Trim* and Galvanized Clips*, plus the Country Lane Designer Series Paper*.
