Enjoy the Little Things Movie Time

A while back, I posted about a Project Kit class I will be having this coming Monday, Mar. 14. This Enjoy the Little Things Project Kit can be found in the Occasions Catalogue, and while you can always order it for yourself anytime, the benefit of coming to a class is that you don't have to purchase the coordinating stamp set. You can use mine and save yourself the money. The cost of the class is just the kit with tax and shipping - $43.00 and the class runs from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.

If you would like to make this cute piece of home decor, featuring a clipboard that is free-standing and 13 inserts (one for each month of the year with one spare ), you must let me know today as I need to order the kit for you and it takes almost a week to arrive. Sign up by clicking on this link, Enjoy the Little Things Project Kit Class.

Watercolour Background for Technique Nights

This month my Technique Night Classes are focusing on watercolour background techniques. I needed some samples and today's card is one of them. I am so excited with how this project turned out. I knew I wanted to stamp the fern images on moistened watercolour paper and let the images bleed and run a little, but I wasn't sure just how much water to use and whether or not I should also spritz the ink on the stamp . Luckily, watercolour can be forgiving and I learned quickly what would work to give you the best effect.

I love how the corrugated kraft paper behind the images adds to the jungle feeling of the card. It reminds me of a jungle hut built with bamboo or something.

I just realized that the layout is a mirror image of Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week:

I don't want to explain too much about how this is made, as it will be shown to my classes, but here's a closer look:

  • I had quite the time selecting the background paper for this card. I had many different samples but nothing looked quite right. I even did a Skype consult with my daughter and she had the same reservations about the DSP samples I showed her. Finally she said, "What about Crumb Cake, or kraft?" And then I knew I wanted to use the Kraft Corrugated Paper, which is one of my favourites anyway. I don't know why it didn't occur to me right away.
  • Yay for Wink of Stella! It was a quick, no fuss way of making my dragonfly iridescent!
  • The ferns and foliage are from images in Butterfly Basics and Awesomely Artistic Stamp sets. And I used many shades of green layered over each other, including Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.
  • The sentiment is from the set, Enjoy the Little Things, which coordinates with the Kit of the same name.
Hope you had a great weekend! I got a lot done, which felt wonderful and my hubby and I had a bit of a Broadchurch binge. What a great show that is! I'm hooked!

Enjoy the Little Things Kit Class

While I was on the retreat last weekend, I took the time to stamp and assemble my "Enjoy the Little Things" Project Kit. I thoroughly enjoyed the process. All the materials were there and the directions were clear and I was able to create a really cute home decor piece that is so flexible that you can have a new insert for the clipboard every month of the year and 1 extra as well! All the decor inserts are so cute, I had trouble picking just a few to show you, but here you are:

This one features a shaker style balloon, a gold foil balloon (hard to tell in the photo, and a cute polka dotted balloon.

This cute Christmas insert uses a whole variety of materials and different fonts to wish a Merry Christmas to all who read it.

Wouldn't you love to have this in your house in the fall? It kind of sums of autumn so well!

I'm thinking of putting this one out soon for spring!!

If you order the kit, you will also need the coordinating stamp set, adhesives of different types and coordinating ink pads to complete it. I can make that a bit easier for you by providing the stamp set, ink and adhesives to help you put it all together, so I'm offering a class for this kit on March 14. Here are the details:
