Share Sunshine PDF with the Retiring Artfully Aware

Last week, I purchased the new Stampin' Up! Covid 19 Fundraising PDF Download called Share Sunshine. It contains both black and white and colour images and sentiments geared to the global pandemic situation. You can print them on cardstock and use them on your card fronts and the colours coordinate with regular Stampin' Up! colours.

When you click on this link, it takes you to a page where you can download the 15 page PDF for $12 USD. Your credit card will make the change to your currency automatically. For me, the images and sentiments printed easily and the colours that came off my printer were a perfect match for the Stampin' Up! colours, but that would depend upon your particular computer and printer settings and accuracy. They are all really clever and cute.

The question is, can I roll out and send enough cards to use them all? This download will definitely motivate me!

Here's my first sample:

  • I paired these two sentiments up with some retiring products from the Annual Catalogue namely: Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper, Artfully Aware Cling Stamp Set (which is 25% off), and the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon (which is also 25% off). These are still available while supplies last.
  • I stamped the image from Artfully Aware on Whisper White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured it in with coordinating Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends Combo Markers and Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends Combo Markers. For the hair I used the Soft Saffron Combo and Soft Suede Combo. I used a little Light Smoky Slate to add some shadow around the image. The skin tone is made using the Ivory Blends Marker.
  • The Stitched Shapes Dies die cut the image while the Hearts Punch Combo was used to punch out the heart-shaped sentiment and the Classic Label Punch for the second sentiment.
  • I added a little Lace trim under the Burlap Ribbon.
There are a lot of sentiments that would pair well with the Artfully Aware images, so it's one that you might get a lot of use out of along with this Download over the next year or so! Remember, Retiring Products are only available while supplies last.

Love is in the Air for The Paper Players

I'm still in the throes of computer crash blues! I have my new computer, but the worst is finding your old favourite software is no longer available and/or compatible with your new OS etc. Then you have to find new apps and the learning curve can be time consuming to learn the ins and outs of them. I'm desperately trying to get my February newsletter out and it's almost ready. So with that in mind, this is another quick post. I wanted to play along with The Paper Players' Theme Challenge this week:

It's obviously a Valentine challenge and since there's a wood-grain background on the challenge banner, I naturally thought of doing another masculine valentine card. That and I needed one for my Mom & Me class on Saturday for the moms to make. So here's my design:

  • I used the Pressed Petals specialty designer series paper for the wood background for my design. It has a nice dark grain to it.
  • On the Very Vanilla panel, I stamped the long texture stamp from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set, in Crumb Cake.
  • The large hearts were punched from Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler with the Heart Punch from the Heart Punch Pack in the Mini Catalogue. The little hearts were from retired die sets, but the Stitched Be Mine die set would have something similar, I just don't have it.
  • I ran the two Crumb Cake hearts through the Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder for the texture. The sentiment is from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set as well.
  • I tied a loose bow with linen thread as an embellishment.

If you live in Canada, and don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. "You Had Me at Crumb Cake!" Masculine Valentine

Last week, I was creating a new Pinterest board based on Masculine Valentines, and I realized I needed a few more of them of my own to pin on my board. Masculine styled cards seem to be more difficult for some people to design, so those pins tend to be popular. And I love to design masculine themed cards - perfect match! I drew from a few sources for this one.

My biggest source was from the Heartfelt Bundle in the 2020 Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue, but I also used a sentiment from Geared Up Garage in the Annual Catalogue and the Braided Burlap Trim and Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder from the Jan/Jun Mini.

Texture and colour are also really important in a masculine card so I drew heavily on Crumb Cake and Copper with just a pop of Real Red and a hint of Basic Black. Here's the card:

  • The basic palette of the card is Crumb Cake, Copper, Very Vanilla and Real Red, but the Crumb Cake really defines the masculine look. The sentiment is stamped on the card base at the start.
  • I embossed the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment from the Heartfelt stamp set on Very Vanilla using Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder and punched it out with the Heart Punch pack. I also punched a scallop heart out of Copper Foil Sheet using the same punch pack.
  • The punch pack also punched a Crumb Cake heart and Real Red Scallop Heart. The Soft Suede heart was cut free-hand.
  • The arrow was stamped using the image from the Heartfelt stamp set and fussy cut.
  • A Very Vanilla panel was embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. It was placed over the Copper Panel that the scallop heart was punched from. You can't see the hole as it is covered by the Very Vanilla panel.
  • The Braided Burlap Trim is added then everything else is added as shown, using glue dots or Stampin' Dimensionals.

I have another 1 Day Craft Crop to Aid Refugees coming up this spring. It will be held on Saturday March 14th from 9 am to 9 pm in the beautiful, natural light-filled lobby of Emmanuel Church, 2600 Hebert Road, West Kelowna, BC. Here's the official word:

The Refugee Care Collective at Emmanuel Church in West Kelowna is hosting a One Day Crafting Retreat /Crop in our bright, spacious lobby on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 9 am - 9 pm. The $65 fee will get you lunch and dinner prepared in our kitchen, lots of natural light, room for your equipment, a fabulous goody bag, door prizes, make and takes, challenges, and use of my equipment and stamp collection. But the best part is 12 hours free of housework, kids, responsibilities with nothing to do but craft and visit and eat! All proceeds after costs, and all profits from any orders taken through Stampin' Up! will be donated to the Okanagan Syrian Sponsorship Circle, as we raise the money to bring the family of the Syrian refugees we previously supported to Canada.  Come out and have a great time crafting, but also support a wonderful cause and do something to help relieve some of the suffering in our world.

Here are some photos from one of the last times we did this:
