Just a quick post today to show you a Valentine card that I made my hubby! It's a little non-traditional both in colour and design, but I know he'll love it, because he grew up by the ocean and he loves it. The beautiful, beautiful New Horizons 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper with the abstract watercolour landscapes make creating artistic looking cards so easy.
On a Crumb Cake card base, and with a Night of Navy backing, I used one of the seascape designs from the New Horizons DSP and trimmed it to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".
Using the Oceanfront stamp set, I stamped the grasses in Evening Evergreen. Using the On the Horizon stamp set, I stamped the birds in Night of Navy.
I die cut the beach fences in the Horizon Dies from the wood grain DSP from the Heart & Home DSP set and mounted them on the card front as shown with strips cut from the Mini Stampin' Dimensional sides.
I die cut the grass from the Horizon Dies and mounted it as shown using Mini Dimensionals.
The Crumb Cake heart was punched 4 times using the Heart Punch Pack. The sentiment from Always in My Heart was stamped on one using Evening Evergreen. All the hearts were glued together and the edges were sponged with Soft Suede ink. This 3D heart was glued to the card front as shown.

It's that time of year again, when I create a new creative design for a masculine valentine for my hubby, who some of my customers refer to as Mr. Stampin' Up!, because he delivers their orders to them for me! This year I used Game On for my design. I don't know if you noticed, but all the cards in the image with the playing cards are hearts! In fact it's a royal flush of hearts, one of the rarest hands in poker!! I can't think of a better metaphor for a good husband in marriage that has lasted for almost 43 years! Lucky me, indeed!

My Crumb Cake base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" on the long side.
The next layer is Soft Suede, cut at 5 1/4" x 4".
The Very Vanilla panel is 3 1/2" x 4 3/4". It's sponged around the edges with Soft Suede. On it the images are embossed in Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, even the sentiment on the banner.
The images are from Game On, including the bottom sentiment.
The sentiment on the top banner is from the Always in My Heart stamp set and is die cut with the Floral Heart dies.
All the small hearts are die cut with the small stitched heart in the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Dies. You'll notice that they don't have the hole for the tag that that die has built in. That's because I got my husband to take it off with some metal cutters because I wanted a small heart of that shape.
The hearts are Crumb Cake, sponged with Soft Suede, Real Red, and Gold Brushed Metallic cardstock, which won't be available again until the next July/Dec Mini Catalogue, but I have a ton of it left.
The final embellishment is a bow tied with a quadruple layer of linen thread and added with a glue dot.

I'm still in the throes of computer crash blues! I have my new computer, but the worst is finding your old favourite software is no longer available and/or compatible with your new OS etc. Then you have to find new apps and the learning curve can be time consuming to learn the ins and outs of them. I'm desperately trying to get my February newsletter out and it's almost ready. So with that in mind, this is another quick post. I wanted to play along with The Paper Players' Theme Challenge this week:
It's obviously a Valentine challenge and since there's a wood-grain background on the challenge banner, I naturally thought of doing another masculine valentine card. That and I needed one for my Mom & Me class on Saturday for the moms to make. So here's my design:
I used the Pressed Petals specialty designer series paper for the wood background for my design. It has a nice dark grain to it.
On the Very Vanilla panel, I stamped the long texture stamp from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set, in Crumb Cake.
The large hearts were punched from Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler with the Heart Punch from the Heart Punch Pack in the Mini Catalogue. The little hearts were from retired die sets, but the Stitched Be Mine die set would have something similar, I just don't have it.
I ran the two Crumb Cake hearts through the Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder for the texture. The sentiment is from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set as well.
I tied a loose bow with linen thread as an embellishment.
