Merry Mice in Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate

I love using non-traditional colours for Christmas cards and as I was planning some make and takes for my Holiday Catalogue launch this Saturday, I started playing with the Merry Mice stamp set. Those oh-so-adorable mice need some colouring and Smoky Slate is a natural for mice, but it's not ideal if you're going to use traditional green and red. It just took a second to visualize it with Pink Pirouette and Whisper White and the card almost made itself! Here's a closer look:

  • I stamped that carol singing rodent in Basic Black Archival ink and used my Stampin' Write markers to colour him or her in. I don't think we should gender-stereotype the little critter just for wearing pink, do you? Even though I wasn't actually watercolouring, I did make limited use of a watercolour technique, namely layering the colour, making sure that each layer was thoroughly dry before applying the next. It just adds a bit more depth to the figure. It's important to let the layers dry completely, especially on Whisper White cardstock, or you'll be tearing or pilling the paper very easily.
  • I'm getting so much use out of my Layering Ovals, Circles and Squares Framelits! It's so nice to have the narrow borders that they allow us to make now.
  • First time trying the Holly Embossing Folder from the Annual Catalogue. I love the texture it gives to the Pink Pirouette panel. The Smoky Slate Polka Dots are from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • One framelit that I'm getting a lot of use out of is the banner in the Large Numbers Framelits. It's very useful for longer sentiments! And speaking of sentiments, isn't this a cute one from Merry Mice?

Great News! The Clearance Rack has been restocked with "new" old products! These goodies will be available while supplies last! If you see something you like, you'd be best to get it right away or risk losing out! Here are some of the items I saw last time I looked!

Thanks to Julie Davison for the illustration!

Don't forget that as I strive to reach my goal of earning 100,000 sales volume by the end of this month I am giving DOUBLE PAPERCRAFT CAT REWARDS POINTS until September 30th. You still must reach $30 or multiples of $30 to earn the points but you will earn twice as many! Keep track of my progress at the top of the right margin! Rose Wonder for the Pals

Have you ever CASE'd yourself? When I saw the colour swatch for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge this week, I immediately thought of a card I'd done a while back, using the Rose Garden Thinlits and Rose Wonder stamp set. With some colour and sentiment changes, it was perfect for this challenge.

These colours together are amazing! The Cucumber Crush and Bermuda Bay are peacock colours, very vibrant, while the calm Crumb Cake adds some subtlety to the mix. Here's a closer look:

  • I just love that Designer Series Paper from the Love Blossoms DSP stack. It's just kind of a sophisticated, Art Deco-like design - a perfect background. The other DSP is from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • The leaf sprig from the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies is one of my favourites. It looks great with the rose die cuts or on its own, as I used it here. There are actually 3 sprigs here, but I trimmed the top leaf off the third one, in order to fit on this panel.
  • I really like two things here: the sentiment label which you can stamp with an image from Rose Wonder and which coordinates with a die from the Rose Garden Thinlits. The other is the font of the Happy Anniversary sentiment from the Timeless Love stamp set from the Annual Catalogue. I also like the way it stamps a little over the border on this label, refusing to be bound by convention!!

Party Pants and Glitter Tape!

This is the first time I've been able to use the new Sale-A-Bration rewards! Uncharacteristically, I waited to earn the rewards for free rather than buying them in the pre-order period for Demonstrators. So I just received them and I am showing some of them to you now! They are quite wonderful!

I decided to go with a party theme with the Party Pants Stamp Set and the Metallics Glitter Tape, so lots of glitz and shine!

  • I just love the sentiment, "Put your Party Pants On!"  How cute is that? And the balloon images that come with it coordinate with the Balloon Bouquet Punch from the Occasions Catalogue! Here I embossed them with Gold and Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder. I like how the stamp has a lightened area on the top right, giving the balloons a rounded look.
  • The background Designer Series Paper is from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack, which for the first time has Silver and Gold metallic designs as well as the rest of the Neutrals.
  • Don't you just love that Glitter Tape? It's so easy to lay down a strip of glitter and have it well anchored! The tape works just like washi tape. It's easy to lay down and pull up and you can tear it to cut it, no scissors required. Makes me want to have a party!
