Seaside Bay for Speed Stamping As You See It Challenge #301

seaside bay for speed stamping aysi challenge #301 1

Well, as exciting as our 300th Challenge was, it's time to get back to our routine, and the next challenge on the roster is a speed stamping challenge created by team mate Heather H.

challenge #301
Not that speed stamping isn't exciting! It's guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping for sure. You see, you have 10 minutes only to make a card and you have to time yourself from the moment you start cutting cardstock or stamping images, or whatever your first moves will be. Now, you are allowed to gather all your materials and plan your card out in advance, but as soon as you physically begin working on your card, the time starts to count down. Mine took 5 min. and 57 sec. It's simpler than I typically make my speed stamping cards, but I had already tried one that required a lot of die cutting and I ran out of time, so this one is mostly stamping! What a difference that makes! (Just a little heads up for you!) Here's a closer look:

  • I started with a Coastal Cabana card base and added a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of Hello Irresistible 6" x 6" DSP to the front.
  • On a piece of 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" Basic White Card stock, I stamped the images you can see starting with the sentiment at the top, from the Seaside Bay set, in Crumb Cake, the sandpiper in Crumb Cake, the two sets of shells in the sand, which are stamped in Petal Pink and had the rock'n'roll technique with Crumb Cake added before stamping. The large grasses are Pretty Peacock and the small ones are Granny Apple Green.
  • I added this panel to the card front and used some retired Faux Seaglass Shapes.
  • I hit the timer stop and I had 4min. and 3sec. left which means I used 5min and 57sec.
Here's a reminder of the promotions still going in June:

Exploring in Colour with Gone Fishing for As You See It Challenge #300!!

exploring in colour with gone fishing for aysi #300 1

I can't believe this is As You See It's 300th Challenge! The time has flown by, but isn't that the way when you're having fun! We're celebrating our 300th challenge with a theme - Adventure, and prizes - 6 stamp sets in all, one for each Design Team Member to choose a winner. You've got to try this one out! Here's the Challenge Banner:

challenge #300

We're looking for projects that celebrate the spirit of adventure, including travel, exploration, extreme sports, and daring! Here's what I came up with, an alternative Paper Pumpkin project with a slimline profile for the background and images from the Going Fishing bundle.

exploring in colour with gone fishing for aysi #300 2

  • Using one of the card bases from the May Paper Pumpkin kit, Exploring in Colour, I opened it up and trimmed the top, bottom and sided to fit a slimline profile.
  • I used some of the wave edges from the Gone Fishing Dies to extend and blend the lake edge. They also add some texture to the waves.
  • I used a tag and a die cut compass from the set, and one of the sentiments to create the Cheers to Another Adventure sentiment, which is perfect for this theme. From the stamp set that goes along with the Paper Pumpkin set, I also stamped the enamel camping mug and fussy cut it out to add to the sentiment tag.
  • From the Gone Fishing stamp set, I stamped two fish using two step stamping, and die cut them.
  • I did the same with the lure, two step stamping and die cutting. I added some linen thread through the top of the lure and tucked the ends under the piece of Let's Go Fishing Designer Series Paper behind the Paper Pumpkin card base, glued to the  3 1/2" x 8 1/2" Mossy Meadow card base the whole thing is built on, though you can't see it in the photos.
  • I used some Brushed Metallic Dots to highlight some aspects of the card.

Sentimental Park Duo for As You See It Challenge #299 - Recipe for Framed Flowers in Blue

sentimental park duo for aysi challenge #299 1

I love recipe challenges. Maybe I just like someone telling me what to do, or at least giving me some guidelines to work within. This week at As You See It Challenges, we have a new Recipe Challenge (and can you believe it's Challenge #299 already?) The challenge was cooked up by team member, Deborah, and it's got some lovely elements as part of it. Check out the banner here:

challenge #299

I just love that it has a frame and a bow as two of the elements! And we have so many lovely blues now at Stampin' Up! with our colour refresh that this gives me a good opportunity to try them out!

Here's what I came up with:

sentimental park duo for aysi #299 2

  • I started with Thick Basic White cardstock for the base and added a layer of Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper as a background.
  • I used regular basic white next and embossed it with the Countryside Blossoms embossing folder to add some texture.
  • I used the two similar sized label dies from the Sentimental Park dies, one adorned with flowers and one plain, to die cut a frame from Boho Blue cardstock. Then I cut a label with the plain label die to fit right inside it.
  • On that I heat embossed the sentiment from the Sentimental Park stamp set, in White embossing powder.
  • I die cut more small flowers using the dies from the Sentimental Park dies, from Azure Afternoon, Night of Navy, and Balmy Blue cardstock. I used them to add to the flower outlines die cut right on the frame.
  • I tied a double finger bow using the Balmy Blue & White Variegated Ribbon and added that to the card front as shown.
  • I used Festive Pearls to the centers of a few of the flowers on the frame.

I'm thinking about having another Garage Sale of my retired products, since I still have a lot left and more added since the old annual catalogue retired. Since I no longer have a garage, one of my lovely customers has offered her driveway. I will get that organized in June.
