Waterfront for Freshly Made Sketches

Welcome to Monday and time to demonstrate one of the more popular stamp sets from the Occasions Catalogue, Waterfront! I'm excited I finally got around to being able to use it. I had a bit of a long session with it, as I tried out a lot of different configurations and effects (and ended up with pretty purple and blue fingers). I tried a nighttime scene and different sized daylight scenes, and a tropical scene. It was all good and I had a lot of fun with it. The great thing is that Waterfront makes you feel like a watercolour artist, and it has some terrific sentiments that go with it as well!

I decided to use the layout for the latest Freshly Made Sketches Challenge, which is so simple that you can do almost anything with it:

In fact, when mine was completed, it was so simple that I felt I needed to add something to it to up the Wow Factor a bit. You can see what I opted to do at the bottom left.

  • I used Fresh Fig ink for the mountains, stamping several of them and overlapping without the need for masking because they blend so well.
  • Some Soft Suede was added next under the mountains, again stamped several times, with the same stamp oriented different ways.
  • I used the mountain stamp again, this time upside down to create the river banks out of Pear Pizzazz, more overlapping happening.
  • The river was first stamped in Marina Mist, with some stamped off Pool Party added in the background for depth.
  • The trees are stamped in Tranquil Tide, as is the sentiment, while the sun is stamped in So Saffron ink then masked so the sky can be stamping in Soft Sky and look like it is behind.

How is your Sale-A-Bration going? Do you have a goal in terms of the rewards you want to win? Which are your favourites? Don't forget that most Sale-A-Bration products typically retire right after Sale-A-Bration, and you can't get them otherwise, so earning them is your only alternative! The brochure contains some great suggestions not only for projects you can make with them, but also for bundles of product you can purchase big enough to earn a Level 1 or Level 2 prize! Check out the brochure HERE.  Dpn't forget that there is a 2nd release of three new rewards coming on Feb. 16!

Have a great week!
