Brayer Birthday Card

I'm preparing for a Birthday Buffet class later this month and I need 8 samples of a variety of Birthday cards. I wanted to try a die cut sentiment from a brayered piece of cardstock with a variegated sunset-like array of colours. With the new sponge brayers from Stampin' Up!, you get a nice soft, easily blended look with no harsh lines so it isn't a difficult look to achieve. And depending on how many copies of this design you want to make, you can just lay your paper panels end to end and brayer them all at once. Once the sentiments are die cut, displaying them on Basic Black cardstock really plays up the soft sunset colours.

Here's a closer look:

  • I love the Happy Birthday Thinlits because it is so easy to come up with a quick birthday card where the sentiment is the focal point. They are great when you have some decorative Designer Series Paper that you want to feature. You can just die cut the greeting in a colour that would pop against the background DSP and you are practically done!
  • I used a lot of the colours from the 2016 -2018 In Colour collection to brayer the cardstock before die-cutting the sentiment. I started with Peekaboo Peach at the bottom, to Flirty Flamingo, to Sweet Sugarplum and finally Dapper Denim. I used 2 different sponges in the brayer, one for the lighter colours and one for the darker ones.
  • After die cutting and gluing the sentiment, using Liquid Multipurpose Glue, (the Fine Tip Glue Pen would work well, too.), I added a mixture of Blushing Bride sequins and the retired 2016 -2018 In Colour Enamel Shapes.
I'm not writing a lot tonight, as I am working the election tomorrow, all day long, so I'm trying to get as much done now for my upcoming classes as possible. I have been volunteering for one of the local political parties during the campaign and tomorrow we will see if all our hard work has had the desired effect! I know I'm tired after this and looking forward to having it done, whatever the outcome, but it has been a great experience. You learn so much about the process.

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day, 2018!
