November Paper Pumpkin - Using Up Bits and Pieces

Paper Pumpkin is nothing if not generous. I always have bits and pieces left over after finishing with a kit, and although I mean to, I often don't get around to using them up somewhere else. It's a shame really because they are good quality elements that would give me good choices in many projects. But this month, I've been scrambling for more Christmas cards, since I sold so many at the Craft Fair. So I went to my November Paper Pumpkin box to help me make more in a short time and I really hit the jackpot!!

I had 3 card bases left, two and a half sheets of fir bough die cuts left, some plaid card fronts, several sentiment punched out shapes that were already stamped (Bonus!!) plus some wood grain stickers, a couple of vellum accents, some Cherry Cobbler braided linen trim and some gold self-adhesive sequins! All I had to do was cut some more card bases and fold them, add a few more card fronts  and sticker shapes from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper, which matches this set perfectly, and die cut some more sentiment shapes. Here's a sample of what I came up with:

  • The two standing cards have two patterns of the Festive Farmhouse DSP that really coordinate with this kit as you can see by the bottom card front.
  • I used the fir bough die cuts in different ways, as you can see. I made 10 cards in all, each slightly different from the other, and used up all of the 2 and 1/2 pages of left over die cuts.
  • That Cherry Cobbler Braided Linen Trim really makes a statement on these cards and I almost used all of it up. Just enough left for a couple more bows.
  • When I had used up all the sentiment die cuts from the kit, I got out the Stitched Seasons framelits, that were available only in November to make the rest. I stamped them using the stamp set that came with the Paper Pumpkin kit and Cherry Cobbler ink.
  • The adhesives in the kit went a long way to helping me finish the cards. Here's close-ups of each one:

So next time you have bits and pieces left over in your Paper Pumpkin kit, see what you can do with them, using your regular supplies and get the most mileage out of your did kit each month.
