The Silver Screen

I'm continuing to soak up the sun here in Palm Desert!  Today we soaked up a little too much sun. We went for a hike, thinking that the cloudy sky would make things cooler.  Not enough, apparently!  Thought I was going to die from heat exhaustion on the way back, but I decided that if I did, Ken would have to carry me the rest of the way and I didn't want him to have to do that, so I kept going.  Cold water was never so appreciated - on the face, neck, down my back and oh, yeah - to drink!!

This is my 35th wedding anniversary and my hubby went out early this morning and bought me a dozen coral coloured roses!  What a great guy!  We will celebrate with dinner out tonight!

My friend had her 60th birthday party recently.  It was a big surprise party!  I wanted to make a really special card for her.  She loves movies, so I wanted to come up with something to reflect that.

I used Basic Grey as my card base and added a layer of Brushed Silver to symbolize the silver screen.  The popcorn bag was cut from Very Vanilla with stripes of Real Red punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.  The popcorn itself was some Boho Blossoms flowers sponged with Daffodil Delight.

The film strip was made by cutting some Basic Black card stock about 1 1/4" by 5 inches, and measuring one inch sections with 1/4" sections between.  I then used the 1" Square Punch to punch the holes evenly.  I fussy cut some v-shaped pieces in between each cel and backed it with Whisper White.  The images stamped on the film strip were from the Convention 2012 set we were given called I Am..., Pretty Postage (w123095; c123097)* (retiring set), Designer Typeset Photopolymer stamp set (132956), and the Morning Post Alphabet (w126950; c126592).

The "film reel" (bit of a stretch, I know) is created with the Delicate Doilies Sizzlet (126999).  I made a couple of tickets stamped in StazOn Black with the That's the Ticket stamp set!  I was pretty pleased with the whole effect, but have to acknowledge Tanya Bell, a Stampin' Up demonstrator from Australia for the popcorn bag.  My friend was really happy with the card AND the movie passes it held!

Well, must go shower and get ready for our anniversary dinner!  Ta Ta!
