Enjoy the Moment Sneak Peek for Freshly Made Sketches

This past weekend, I "attended" Stampin' Up!'s OnStage@Home, our usual big convention, but this year, due to COVID, held online! Of course, there were many things we missed about getting together in person, but Stampin' Up! really did a good job of creating a fun experience for everyone, despite the drawbacks of it being a virtual event. And they even sent us a swag bag with some goodies in it. In my bag, I had a sneak peek stamp set from the up coming Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue called Enjoy the Moment. It's a different set for sure, tending towards a masculine look, with different seed pods. It has a rustic charm, but I tried to create a bit of a monochromatic look with this card, except for a subtle pop of Pool Party.

I decided to play along with Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #460 with this sketch:

It involved quite a bit of masking to make what I wanted to look like a hand-gathered collection of seed pods. See if you can tell what I masked:

  • The first image I stamped in Early Espresso is what looks like the poppy seed pods. I also stamped them on 100% adhesive Post It Notes and fussy cut them just inside the outer stamped line and adhered them to the image.
  • I did the same thing with the flat-topped lotus seed pod, then I added the other two types of seed pods (your guess is as good as mine!) all stamped in Early Espresso ink.
  • I used the Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Combos to colour them in and the Pool Party Light Stampin' Blends marker and the Blends Colour Lifter to add some shading around the outside.
  • It's hard to photograph, but I added some Wink of Stella to the pods and it definitely add some zest to an otherwise subdued card.
  • The card base is Very Vanilla Thick cardstock with some In Good Taste DSP in the background. The Crumb Cake flag has the Vanilla Woven Ribbon from the Forever Greenery Ribbon Combo Pack.
  • The sentiment, stamped in Pool Party is also from the Enjoy the Moment stamp set.
