Whimsy & Wonder Suite for Freshly Made Sketches' 500th Challenge

Wow! 500 challenges! That is impressive commitment! And it deserves a huge congratulations to the crew at Freshly Made Sketches. Well done everyone! I know from running my own challenge blog that it takes a lot of work and dedication to keep that up.

I really wanted to honor their 500th challenge by entering. Here is the sketch:

I'm in the process of creating samples for my catalogue launch in a week and I still hadn't come up with anything for the Whimsy & Wonder Suite, so I decided to use it for this challenge. Whimsy & Wonder is all about non-traditional colours and leans heavily into Polished Pink and Blushing Bride, so my Christmas card creation is a testament to pink:

  • On the Polished Pink card base and the Basic White layer, I've added a background from the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper in Blushing Bride with silver foil snowflake accents.
  • I used the Ornate Layers Dies to die cut then modify a panel for the left hand side in Basic White. One of the Wonderful Snowflake iridescent foil embellishments was added before I started adding the Christmas trees.
  • The tree in the back was die cut both from Polished Pink and Blushing Bride, then I used the Polished Pink 'skeleton' and added the Blushing Bride inserts, gluing them in. I die cut some baubles and stars from mirrored silver foil finish from the Silver Foil Specialty Pack. I added baubles and a star to this tree.
  • The second tree was heat embossed with silver embossing powder on Blushing Bride cardstock and die cut using the Christmas Tree dies. One of the silver foil stars was added to the top. This image is from the Whimsical Trees stamp set.
  • The third tree was heat embossed with silver embossing powder on Polished Pink cardstock and die cut with the Christmas Tree dies. The image is also from the Whimsical Trees stamp set. One of the silver foil stars was added to the top of this one as well, using a glue dot. The last two trees were adhered using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • The sentiment is embossed in silver on Basic White cardstock and die cut with a label die from the Seasonal Label dies.

  3. This is so pretty, Heather! I like those soft, sweet colours with the touches of silver - so stylish! The lacy edge on the rectangle really suites the design.
