Sentimental Park Duo for As You See It Challenge #299 - Recipe for Framed Flowers in Blue

sentimental park duo for aysi challenge #299 1

I love recipe challenges. Maybe I just like someone telling me what to do, or at least giving me some guidelines to work within. This week at As You See It Challenges, we have a new Recipe Challenge (and can you believe it's Challenge #299 already?) The challenge was cooked up by team member, Deborah, and it's got some lovely elements as part of it. Check out the banner here:

challenge #299

I just love that it has a frame and a bow as two of the elements! And we have so many lovely blues now at Stampin' Up! with our colour refresh that this gives me a good opportunity to try them out!

Here's what I came up with:

  • I started with Thick Basic White cardstock for the base and added a layer of Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper as a background.
  • I used regular basic white next and embossed it with the Countryside Blossoms embossing folder to add some texture.
  • I used the two similar sized label dies from the Sentimental Park dies, one adorned with flowers and one plain, to die cut a frame from Boho Blue cardstock. Then I cut a label with the plain label die to fit right inside it.
  • On that I heat embossed the sentiment from the Sentimental Park stamp set, in White embossing powder.
  • I die cut more small flowers using the dies from the Sentimental Park dies, from Azure Afternoon, Night of Navy, and Balmy Blue cardstock. I used them to add to the flower outlines die cut right on the frame.
  • I tied a double finger bow using the Balmy Blue & White Variegated Ribbon and added that to the card front as shown.
  • I used Festive Pearls to the centers of a few of the flowers on the frame.

I'm thinking about having another Garage Sale of my retired products, since I still have a lot left and more added since the old annual catalogue retired. Since I no longer have a garage, one of my lovely customers has offered her driveway. I will get that organized in June.

  2. That frame is so very pretty Heather and the bow makes a real statement and elevates this card into something really special. I am loving all of these new blue too and that DSP is now on my shopping list, along with the EF - did you know it actually embosses one of the DSP patterns (my mind was blown when I discovered this last week!) A beautiful card for this week's recipe challenge.

  3. Joanne, NO! I did not know that! Gee it would be great to find out these things in a way other than by accident. I suppose I should have watched the videos or something! That is amazing!

  4. I did not know that either, Joanne and Heather - but I don't have either the DSP or the folder, so guess it's not a surprise! :-) I do love this card though, Heather and I think its the way you've pulled out those glorious clusters of tiny flowers that looks as though they've escaped the DSP and planted themselves there. And the bow is great too - your new craft room but be a dream to work in, since you've produced this beauty in it!
