Mother's Day Reawakening

How was your Mother's Day?  Mine was spent babysitting a toddler. My daughter had a midwife appointment in a city two hours from where they live and the plan was to try to get labour started. (She is due any day now.) In order to carry out the regimen they had to stay in the city and wait to see if the regimen worked. I stayed at their house with their little boy, my 22 month old grandson!

It has been many years since I have looked after a toddler by myself for more than a couple of hours at a time. May I just take my hat off to you moms with toddlers. It's darned exhausting, even with Kesten being an awesome little guy!

I have a few customers who come to my classes for stamping therapy and some me time away from their kids and I can fully appreciate the need for that now! Is that something that would give you some respite from your responsibilities? If so, check out the classes I have scheduled for the next couple of months.

I thought today I would share with you the April Paper Pumpkin kit, because it is a Mother's Day design. I am so pleased with the quality of the newer Paper Pumpkin kit, and while the old kits were a good deal, now you will get much more for your money.

• This was not created using the instructions in the kit.  I added a background of Coastal Cabana cardstock and didn't do the suggested stamping on this sample.  The newsprint flag comes with the kit along with the heart frame, buttons, baker's twine, tag and the sentiment stamped on the tag in Coastal Cabana ink.
• I thought that the added baby photo made it more personalized and fun, and that heart frame should be framing something.

• This is very cute as it comes, without any additions, and in this photo, you can also see the wrapper and ribbon with the tag.  The kit actually comes with several tags that could be used for other presents.

Another Movie Monday!

Well, I must confess that I didn't make the following video.  I've been really busy sewing some crib bedding for my newest grandbaby, due in the next couple of weeks.  I'm flying up to Ft. St. James on Wednesday to help out and babysit my little grandson when my daughter heads to the hospital, so I have been scrambling to have enough blog fodder and class samples ready so I can leave for a week or two (????) and still be bringing this blog to you.

First let me show you what I've been working on for the grandbaby:

Comforter.  My daughter did the piecing in the middle.

The dust ruffle.  I also made sheets with the polka
dot and the yellow striped material.

These feature two retiring products:

1. The Modern Medley Designer Series Paper.  I have loved the drama of these designs, all in Basic Black and Very Vanilla.  They are great with any vintage cards or projects.  All the Design Series Paper will be retiring, but don't fret.  I have seen the new annual catalogue and there are lots of great designs to take their place.
