My Favourite Things!

So, second day where I am unable to make a new card, so second day with a filler blog post! I'll be back in action on Monday! Taking a break for a week from As You See It Challenges, but be sure to stop by their site today. I know for sure that they have an awesome colour challenge going on for the next week.

I picked out some of my favourite projects from the Occasions Catalogue. You have until May 31st to take advantage of these awesome products! I have included links to the original posts for more detailed information.

Hope you enjoyed this recap! Thanks for dropping by. See you again on Monday.

My Top Ten Picks from the Stampin' Up! 2016 Occasions Catalogue

Well, the Occasions Catalogue has been out now for a week, and I thought it was high time to let you know, for what it's worth, which products are my favs! Yes, it's time once again for My Top Ten Picks!! I will list the ten products and let you know why they are my favourites, and hopefully, that will make it easier for you when choosing what to purchase from this amazing little volume.

Here goes:

1. Best Paper Stack: And the winner is: It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack. (Click on the link to purchase!)

This beautiful, bright paper stack is actually 12 x 12 and you get 4 sheets of each design so you'll have lots of your favourites to play with. It's perfectly designed for birthday cards!

2. Best Designer Series Paper: This was a really hard choice because they are all lovely, but because of the soft colours and beautiful florals, the nod has to go to Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.

3. Top Bundle: There are some absolutely wonderful bundles in this Occasions catalogue and it seems there are more than ever this year. That is great for you because it means you can save money. If you buy a bundle instead of each item in the bundle separately, you will save 15%. Bundles have different catalogue numbers than the individual items so make sure you use that when you order to get the savings.

But the bundle I like the best is (drum roll, please);  The Rose Wonder Photopolymer Bundle.

The beautiful stamp set, the amazing dies including the rose outlines, leaf sprig and that great label all combine to make this a really versatile and creative tool.

4. The Best Ribbon: My upline calls it Mermaid Ribbon! It's so sparkly and such a beautiful colour! Pool Party like you've never seen it before! The award goes to the Pool Party 3/8" Glitter Ribbon, hands down!

5. Best New Tool:  It's what we've all been waiting for! No more dryers sheets and piercing tools!!
It's the Big Shot Die Brush! Removes all the little bits of paper from those intricate dies and die cuts! Hallelujah!

6. Best Kit:  The winner is a cute piece of home decor in the shape of a mini clipboard with interchangeable display pieces! Very cute! It's called Enjoy the Little Things!

7. The Best Stamp Set: I know this is pretty subjective, but because I love hummingbirds and starfish (my home is decorated with a beach cottage theme, with sea stars up the ying yang), I have to go with Picture Perfect, a two-step stamping set. Besides, I think it will work so well with other sets like By the Tide and From Land to Sea, as well as any Floral stamp sets.

8. Best Masculine Suite of Products:  Cheating a bit here, just so I could get some more paper and stamps in the mix, but I truly love this whole product suite, and you know how I love to make masculine cards. It's the Going Global Stamp Set, the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack and the World Traveler Embossing Folder! I know this will be worth your money because it would work so well with other sets such as Traveler, The Open Sea and Guy Greetings.

9. Best Sentiment Stamp Set: This was a toss up between two sets, Suite Sayings and Greatest Greetings. They are both really versatile, with Greatest Greetings having more stamps, but Suite Sayings has a variety of fonts and also coordinates with other products in the Occasions Catalogue, such as Designer Series Paper, so I singled out Suite Sayings as the best!

10. Best Embellishments: I know these have issues for mailing, but Shannon West from Stampin' Up! came up with a great solution for that problem, and they're just soooo cute - Honeycomb Embellishments.

And there you have it! What do you think? Do you agree or disagree? Which are your favourites?

And because it's Tuesday, there's a new slate of:

The Occasions Catalogue is Here!

Well, yesterday, we took down our Christmas tree. It always makes me a bit sad to see it put away. The living room looks so empty and sterile! And then, Sunday night I watched the first episode of the last season of Downton Abbey. I'm sad that it is the last season, but trying to enjoy it as I can. And it's snowing like crazy outside! Sigh! It must be January! And that's a good thing! My birthday is in January, and then the

Occasions Catalogue goes live!

and

Sale-A-Bration starts!!

Yes, today is the first day that you can order from the new 2016 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue! I know many of you have been waiting so long for this day! If you haven't yet seen the Occasions Catalogue, just click on the photo below for the link to the PDF file.

And we have been warned from Stampin' Up! that if sales go the way the pre-order by demonstrators has gone, the Honeycomb Embellishments and the Large Number Framelit Dies might be backordered, so if they are on your wish list, you might want to order them right away.

Now, along with the new Occasions Catalogue every year, Stampin' Up! has their biggest promotion of the year, Sale-A-Bration, from now until March 31, 2016!  Sale-A-Bration works to save you money in 3 ways:

Go ahead and shop from that Occasions Catalogue, but when you do, make sure your order exceeds increments of $60. (i.e. Don't order something for $57.00! Bump it up to $60 instead!) And for every $60 you spend before tax and shipping, you can pick one of the items from the Sale-A-Bration Brochue for free!! How sweet is that? Click on the the photo below to link to the PDF file.

One other thing that you should know is that on page 16 - 18, are items that will only be available for a limited time, until Feb. 15, 2016. They will be replaced by new items at that time, but if you really like any of them, you'll want to earn them by Feb. 15.

The second way to earn free products is to host your own private class or party. When sales from your class reach a qualifying level, Stampin' Up! will add a further $35 on top of the already great rewards.

If you would like to have fun stamping, earn money and get to see and order from new catalogues before the public, you should Join My Team! Click on this LINK to find out more. The Starter Kit is normally a great deal, with $155 worth of any current product you want with no shipping costs, but if you sign up during Sale-A-Bration, Stampin' Up! will add another $40 worth of product of your choice to the kit! That's $195 worth of product for only $125. Be your own boss in 2016!!

And Tuesday means it's another set of Weekly Deals:

Here's a photo of my living room, and see that big empty space between the two chairs? That's where my Christmas tree used to live.

So sad!! But look at all that snow on my deck! It's been piling up for a week now! Have you taken down your Christmas decor yet? When do you like to do it?

And Now for Something Completely Different

We're well into the Christmas season now and, of course, you want to see Christmas themes and colours in decor and greeting cards, but it is also the period of time where Stampin' Up! Demonstrators are allowed to pre-order goodies from the new Occasions Catalogue and play with them before we try to sell them to you, so I'm torn between wanting to keep the Christmas ideas coming and wanting to play with the new stuff (and promote it!). I chose to do the latter, something completely different from the usual.  If you want to have some fun on a Sunday afternoon, it is wonderful to forget the cold and snow or the gloomy, rainy skies, and go and play with the Botanical Gardens Suite* of products.

This set, from the new 2016 Occasions Catalogue, reminds me of a Polynesian jungle, with it's exotic looking 3D flowers, and tropical leaves and the colours to match. Since some of you may be headed on a vacation in the tropics in the next month or two, let this whet your appetite for the warmth, sun and sand and colourful foliage!

I followed the challenge sketch for Freshly Made Sketches this week:

And I had a blast stamping, die cutting and assembling my jungle:

  • I kinda went over the top, but isn't that what jungles are like? I was having so much fun, I didn't know when to stop. The suite has the stamp set, Botanical Blooms*, Designer Series Paper called Botanical Gardens* and matching framelits called Botanical Builder Framelits*.
  • I used the DSP colour scheme here with Cajun Craze, Basic Black, Hello Honey, Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow and Old Olive. Very unique but they work sooo well together!
  • The sentiment is from a new set called Enjoy the Little Things*, which actually coordinates with a cool Home Decor Project kit that I'll show you when I get it and assemble it.

*These products are found in the 2016 Occasions Catalogue and will be available to order on Jan. 5, 2016.

If you still want something before Christmas, you will probably still get it in time, although I can't guarantee that as the deadline has passed. If you are giving a gift, or would like to receive a Stampin' Up! gift, there are still gift certificates in any denomination that you can purchase from me, if you live anywhere in Canada, and I can arrange an email version if you would like.

There are still great savings to be had at our Year-End Sale until Jan. 4th from the Clearance Rack, which has been restocked with merchandise from the still current Holiday Catalogue. Contact me if you would like me to place your order, or shop from home any time 24/7 at my On-Line Store.

Click on the links below to take you to my On-Line Store, where you can read about, look at, and purchase if you wish, the products used to make this card today!
