Honey Bee Bundle for As You See It Challenges

I am almost all finished my preparations for my event on Saturday, my One Day Craft Crop to Aid Refugees. I had to work to squeeze in my As You See It Challenge card for the new challenge this morning. It's a Fill in the Blank Challenge, which means you have to fill in the blank to finish a sentence, and then make your card based on how you filled in the blank. Here's the Challenge Banner, with the idea concocted by Design Team Member, Joanne James!

I decided to fill in the blanks with the words, My favourite type of card to send is birthday cards for my grandkids.

The next grandchild to have a birthday in my family is Cedar and she will be turning six years old in May. I asked her mom, my daughter Kristen, what stamp set she would like and she chose either the Honey Bee set from the Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue or the carried over Nature's Beauty set from the Holiday Catalogue. I chose the Honey Bee set, but now I see that the bundle is not orderable for awhile until the dies are available again. The coordinating paper I used was a Sale-A-Bration reward, but that is sold out now - The Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is possible that some of our supplies may be impacted in the next while by the Corona virus crisis, as China manufactures a lot of our products except for our stamps themselves.

Anyway, without further ado, here is my card:

• The Highland Heather card base echoes the colouring I did on the two embossed flowers on either side of the hive. They were embossed with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder on Whisper White cardstock and die cut with the Detailed Bee dies.
• The hive was embossed with Gold on Whisper White and die cut, while the sentiment and the bees themselves were embossed in Black on Gold Foil and die cut with the same coordination set.
• The striped background paper and the hexagon background panel are both from the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper that you can no longer get. In fact, the only way you can get it now, is to earn an invite to my exclusive Celebrate Sale-A-Bration Party. To do that you have to have earned at least one Sale-A-Bration reward from me, during the Sale-A-Bration period. I usually hold it in April, with lots of SAB rewards as door prizes. The date may have to be postponed depending on the Covid-19 crisis, but it will still happen, and I do have a pack of that paper to give away to one lucky recipient!      
• I used the Family Party stamp set for the sentiment at the top.

I created another version of this card first using a different design from the same pack of paper for the background, but I realized I didn't like it and made a different design at the last minute for the challenge.  It was just too busy for my liking. What do you think:

Honey Bee Circular Slider Card

Just a quick post, written last night after my class was over and before bed, to show you another sample of the Honey Bee stamp set and the Detailed Bee Dies, but this time in a Circular Slider Card formation that I tried to figure out how to create on my own.

Of course, I used the gorgeous Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper that you can earn from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure with any $60 purchase* on one order. And I put the Honey Bee bundle to good use to created the Bee Slider! I did make a video to show the action, but I was trying to film it one-handed and the action is a bit stiff on my slider card so it was a slight disaster as far as an action film goes!

• The bee itself rotates around the hive and spins on it's own axis. You can see on all the photos that it is in different positions.
• I made a panel of the honeycomb paper mounted on Gold Foil Sheet and then die cut it with two of the layering circles nested together to get the track for the slider bee.The circles need to be two sizes away from each other to make the track wide enough to work, but the inner circle has to be large enough to fit the bee hive, which I embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder on a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, the die cut and glued onto the inner circle. The inner circle is glued to the backing using dimensionals or adhesive strips, arranged to give the maximum clearance space so that the bee can move easily around.
• This panel is backed with Basic Black cardstock behind. A dime is placed behind the slot and two Mini Stampin' Dimensionals piled on top of each other. The bee is die cut and adhered with a glue dot to another dime which is then attached to the dime behind the slot using the mini glue dots. This gives added weight to allow the bee to turn and move around the circular slot.
• The bee is heat embossed in black on Gold Foil Sheet and die cut. The die cut honey comb has been die cut from Gold Foil Sheet which was backed with the retired Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets, so that it would be easily adhered to the front of the project, like applying a sticker.
• The sentiment, from the same stamp set, is heat embossed on Basic Black cardstock with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Golden Honey Bee Tribute

One of the stamp sets I was attracted to right off the bat when I opened the new Jan. - Jun. Mini Catalogue, was the *Honey Bee stamp set. The reason it caught my eye, besides how attractive it is, was because my middle daughter, Kristen, is a beekeeper and makes all sorts of products from both the honey and the beeswax from her hives. In fact, she's kind of obsessed with bees and I know she'll love any card I can make here with this stamp set and it's coordinating dies, the *Detailed Bee Dies, as well as the coordinating *Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper that you can get as a free reward from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  These are some of the products Kristen makes with her beeswax and honey.

 Lately, she's been doing some amazing digital art work using her IPad and Apple Pen.

Let's take a closer look at the card and see how I made it:

• On a Basic Black card base I added a piece of the *Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper, which also has a Basic Black base, with a metallic gold honeycomb pattern.
• On top of that I added an embossed oval, created with the Heirlooms Frames Dies and 3D Embossing Folders.
• I stamped the beehive in Versamark ink on some Whisper White cardstock and embossed the image with Gold Stampin' Emboss powder along with the sentiment arch, "Wishing You Sunshine and Happiness". I die cut the hive with the coordinating die from the *Detailed Bee Dies and I used two of the circles from the Layering Circle Dies, nested, to die cut the sentiment.
• I embossed one large and 2 small bees as well as two flowers on a Gold Foil Sheet, with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder and die cut them with the coordinating *Detailed Bee Dies. I also used the honeycomb die to die cut a bit of a honeycomb from Gold Foil backed with a Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet, giving it a sticker-like quality so it can be just peeled and stuck on the project you want it on.
• The flowers and sentiment were adhered with glue, while the hive and bees are popped up with dimensionals.
