Simply Succulents for New At SU Blog Hop

new at su march blog hop 1

Welcome to our March NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with creative paper crafting ideas to share with you. Today we are showcasing the 2021 Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue about halfway into it's sales period and reminding you of it's diversity and versatility and just plain fun. Today I am featuring the Simply Succulents bundle and also showing you the White Wash Technique!

  • The White Wash technique involves embossing the image in white on Crumb Cake cardstock, filling it all in with a wash of Whisper White Craft Ink, and letting it dry, then adding colour to the images with Stampin' Write Markers and a Blender Pen. To see how this technique is done you can watch this video that I posted on Monday:

  • I started with the filler or background step of the two step stamping process. I used quite a bit of water on it and after stamping, I used a Water Painter to spread the ink even further and blur the outline of the image a bit more.

  • The background was created using the large succulents die for a mask and adding some Shimmery White Embossing Paste to some Basic White Thick cardstock through the die mask.
  • The White Wash technique works best on Crumb Cake cardstock for some reason. I embossed the images on the Crumb Cake in White Embossing Powder and then covered them with a runny wash of water and Whisper White craft ink.
  • After that wash dries, I added a simple link or dot of colour from a Stampin' Write marker in an area of the image and blend it into the craft ink using a Blender Pen.
  • The sentiment is from the Simply Succulents stamp set and is die cut using one of the Potted Succulents dies.

What's New at SU! First Frost

Welcome to our NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with creative paper crafting ideas to share with you. Today we are showcasing retiring products from the 2019 - 2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue and the 2020 Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue.

The retiring products I'm choosing to showcase are the First Frost stamp set, on page 140 in the Annual Catalogue and its coordinating Frosted Bouquet Dies (now on page 193 of the Annual Catalogue). I remember when this set first came out in the Holiday Catalogue a couple of years ago. I was immediately drawn to it. I still love to create with it, when I get the chance and it's my go to set when I need foliage for any kind of floral arrangement. And those roses!!

Here's a closer look at my card:

  • I used Pretty Peacock as a base and added a piece of the retiring Garden Lane Designer Series Paper for a background. Then I added a backdrop of Silver Foil Sheet to play up the frosty look and to get that mirror image going, which adds to the fullness of my arrangement.
  • My foliage consisted of vellum leaves and babies breath, just die cut, then stamped and die cut pieces in Mossy Meadow (stamped off) Pretty Peacock, and Sahara Sand. I used Glue dots to arrange all the pieces on the Silver Foil. Glue and other adhesives leave too much mess on foil sheets.
  • I stamped and die cut a large and small rose in each of Rococo Rose and Flirty Flamingo. The bottom two, Flirty Flamingo roses, were added to the project using glue dots. The Rococo Rose ones were mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • The sentiment is also from the First Frost stamp set and is stamped in Pretty Peacock and die cut using the  Stitched Nested Labels Dies. It's mounted using Glue Dots.

I hope you enjoyed my project with the First Frost stamp set and the Frosted Bouquet Dies. Now please hop on over to Margriet Siekman's blog to see what's new with SU in her world:
