Stitched Stars Dies for As You See It Challenge #262

 This time around the challenge at As You See It Challenges is a Fill In The Blank Challenge created by my Design Team member Joanne! If you've never done one of those before, the idea is to fill in the blank of the statement in the Challenge Banner with words of your choosing and then create a card based on those words.

Here's the Challenge Banner:

Now, I would complete the sentence as follows: The one thing that sums up Christmas for me is a SENSE OF WONDER. When I was a child, that wonder was in the magic of Christmas morning, with Santa's visit and the presents and the idea that magic was real. As an adult, the wonder was in the fact that the Son of God became a child on Earth for me. We often go for drives on Christmas Eve and the roads are usually quiet. Often you can see the stars. And the wonder of the night is driven home to me again each time.

• I wanted to use the Stitched Stars dies for this one, especially the star swirl to exemplify the feeling of wonder I get on Christmas Eve, but I needed a good sentiment to go along with it. I found it in the For Unto Us stamp set.
• I stamped the sentiment on the backside of a strip of the Peaceful Place Specialty DSP that I used for the main layer of my card. I tried embossing it with Silver Stampin' Emboss powder but it didn't show up enough, so I used Memento ink.
• I used the edge of one of the Tasteful Labels dies to add some stitching to one end of the sentiment strip and I added some of the silver Metallic Mesh Ribbon behind it.
• The Stitched Stars die cuts were cut from Silver Foil from the Silver Foil Specialty Pack in the Jul/Dec Mini Catalogue. I added some Adhesive sheet to the back of the foil before die cutting so the shapes could be added easily to the DSP by just peeling off the backing and sticking them down with the adhesive.
• The final embellishment was some Rhinestones.

Peaceful Place with Arctic Bears for Monday Morning Live

 When I saw the *Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper and the *Arctic Bears bundle I saw many possibilities for using them both together and I want to explore that idea with today's card, which is also the subject for my Monday Morning Live on my Playing with Papercrafting Facebook page at 11 am PDT. I did have a lot of fun with the dies, though, and the temptation is to use too many of them on your project. I had to pare back my original die cuts to make sense of the remainder. What I ended up with was a large polar bear adrift on an ice floe just off shore against a blizzardy backdrop formed by the *Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper.

• On a Basic Black card base I added a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of the *Peaceful Place Specialty DSP of the design that you see above. The base measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".
• I stamped the large polar bear image and ice crag image from the *Arctic Bears stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut both images with dies from the *Polar Bears dies. I trimmed of the Ice crag image at the bottom.
• I die cut the ice floe the water ripples and the icicle border with dies from the *Polar Bears dies, then stamped the sentiment (also from the *Arctic Bears stamp set) with Memento ink and die cut it with the Tasteful Labels dies.
• The ice crag, the ripples and the sentiment were adheres to the card front using either Stampin' Seal or Liquid Multipurpose Glue.
• The icicle border, the ice floe and the bear were attached with Stamping Dimensionals, or, in the case of the bear, a mix of glue dots and dimensionals.

Peaceful Place Suite Christmas Card

 I'm really having fun playing with my preordered products from the new 2021 July/Dec Mini Catalogue and yesterday I thought I'd experiment with my favourite suite from the catalogue, the *Peaceful Place Suite! It consists of beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper with a palette of black, white, gray and silver foil accents and a theme of evergreen woods for the most part although there are just some patterns as well. Then there is the *Peaceful Cabin stamp set and the *Cabin dies, which take a little figuring out but have some spectacular results!

Take a close up look at this simple card:

• The trees and hills in the background (and foreground) of this card are due to one of the designs in the *Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper which is a 12 x 12 sheet meant to be cut into four 6 x 6 pieces to serve a card backgrounds.
• I could have stamped the cabin from the *Peaceful Cabin stamp set right on the DSP, but I wanted to created some depth in the scene, so I stamped the cabin, the fence and the little fox on some Basic White cardstock and then die cut them with the *Cabin dies.
• Die cutting the cabin with the *Cabin dies isn't straight forward. The outline die just cuts out the top and sides of the cabin as part of a snow line or layer. I had to trim out the rest of the bottom and sides with Paper Snips.
• I added the fence with adhesive and the fox and the cabin with Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
• The sentiment is from the *Peaceful Cabin stamp set and I die cut it with the Tasteful Labels dies.
