No Cut Folded Box with Hand-Penned Paper for New At SU July Blog Hop

new at su blog hop banner 1

Welcome to our July NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with creative paper crafting ideas to share with you. Today we are showcasing creative ways of using the Designer Series Paper that is on sale this month from the 2021/22 Annual Catalogue. I am going to share a No Cut Folded Box made from a piece of 12" x 12" Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper, which is one of the series that is on sale this month in the Designer Series Paper Sale Promotion.

One of the coolest features about these boxes is that you can partially make them up, then store them flat in a drawer or on a shelf until you need to use one, then they just open right up, you pop in the small gift and you fold over the flaps and slide on the belly band! Done! The Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper looks great for this purpose, especially on the sides with the graphic designs like the polka dots on the Pale Papaya or the leaf sprigs on the Highland Heather as I have used here.

  • I used two different sheets of the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper to make two of this boxes. The method for making them is best shown in the video tutorial below:

  • I used a couple of different methods to decorate the boxes. On one I used the Peony Dies to create a Peony flower from Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Blackberry Bliss cardstock and I used Just Jade and Shaded Spruce for the leaves.
  • On the other I added both the Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon and the Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon around the belly band, then combined the two ribbons to make a double finger bow to add to the top.

Here's how they go together and what they look like inside!

Prized Peony Bundle for As You See It Challenges

prized peony bundle for as you see it challenges 1

Welcome to Friday and another As You See It Challenge! It's a Fill in the Blank challenge this week and one of my favourites. It's especially timely because of the polar vortex that has been gripping most of North America over the past couple of weeks! Snow in Texas!!??? Whoa! The challenge asks which colour makes you feel the most cozy. Here's the banner:

For me it's textured gray that does the trick and if you throw in a splash of warm red or yellow, it makes it perfectly Hygge!! So I did a background of Smoky Slate textured with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder and added a splash of warm Mango Melody with the Prized Peony Bundle!

  • The Prized Peony Bundle consists of the Prized Peony cling stamp set and the Peony Dies. I stamped the peony flower in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it in with Mango Melody Stampin' Blends Combo and Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Combo, adding some highlights with the Blends Colour Lifter.
  • The Peony dies not only die cut the image but also an identical shape from Basic Gray cardstock that I adhered behind the image, offsetting it a bit to act as a shadow to provide contrast. These are added to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • The sentiment is from the same Prized Peony stamp set and is die cut with one of the Tasteful Label Dies.
  • The Peony Dies has a scallop border die that I used on the edge here, die cut from Mango Melody cardstock.
  • Embellishments include Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack.
What colours make you feel cozy? I hope you'll play along with us.
